Situated close to the crystal clear, free-flowing Waitahanui River, there are many easy walking tracks including the famous 'Rock Pool' walk within a few minutes. Waitahanui is famed for its trout fishing so bring your rod and give fly-fishing a go. Also, the Whakapapa Ski Field is just a 45-minute drive away for snowy adventures! Abel Tasman National Park is the smallest National Park in New Zealand, but it is one of the most scenic. Abel Tasman boasts pristine white sandy beaches, tranquil estuaries and wonderful forested headlands. The Coastal Track is world famous, and visitors can choose to explore it on their own, or with a guide. Other ways to explore the coastline include sea kayaking, yacht, or water taxis. At the southern entrance to Abel Tasman National Park there is fantastic opportunity for visitors to swim with seals.
