Always on the Move

A city on the move, Warsaw is constantly changing in an effort to rebuild what was lost during World War Two. There’s no better example of this than the stunning Old Town Square, where pastel facades sit alongside dome-topped spires.

Starting here is the Royal Route which passes several historic buildings on its way out to Wilanów, where an ornate Royal Palace is set in a huge park that was the retreat of kings since the 17th century. Just as grandiose is the Palace of Culture and Science, Stalin’s gift to Warsaw that still manages to evoke feelings of hatred and love in equal measure. Go up to the terrace for panoramic city views.

Other cultural offerings are the Warsaw Uprising Museum, considered the best museum in Poland, and traditional bars that still serve down-to-earth food washed down with a shot of vodka - a throwback to the Communist era. Don’t expect to find a seat though – there aren’t any.

Warsaw also has a thriving club scene and more shopping centres than you could throw a stick at. Not that you’d want to, as you’ll be too busy picking up the bargains.

Just outside the city is Warsaw Airport, efficiently linked by public transport to the city’s hotels, guest houses and hostels, available on Booking.com.

The old city full of history and picturesque landscapes and the new city with all modern buildings and locations to visit are both recommended. A very clean, organized and green city as well, I hope to revisit it, since there are plenty of locations I would like to explore.

    Warsaw has lots of parks and museums to explore and it is a pleasant place to walk around. There was a large variety of food available and it was generally tasty and inexpensive. Many of the attractions are a reasonable walk from the city center.

    Friendly, clean easy to navigate, beautiful and intimate. Herbaciarnia same fusy is a fantastic place to take time to rest and drink tea while walking around the old town and Lapidarium across the road is an excellent shop for the perfect souvenir. The katyn forest memorial is a must visit. It's dark and chilling but a very important part of Polish history. The Polish army museum is fantastic for lovers of military history as is the Warsaw technical museum.

    The history of the place was interesting.

    The history of the place was interesting. The crowds overwhelmingly. Some of the restaurants were good others not so. Transport was good. The park was lovely especially the squirrels. Old town worth while visiting. Warsaw has become multicultural, which means a variety of different foods. However it’s best always good to stick to Polish food as it is tasty especially dumplings.

    I only saw the city centre and South in midsummer but it was modern and clean with green spaces everywhere and space between buildings making the amenity and sightseeing great. Superior to many cities of the world in this regard- lovely to walk ride or scooter around. Loved it.

    Very beautiful city.

    Very beautiful city. Oldtown - with a lot of nice boutique shops and cafes. Nice stroll next to the river. Variaty of museums and parks to visit, shopping center with international brands. A chance to experience local cusine as well as international (visited Korean restaurants and loved it). Very easy city to get around. You cal easily walk to many places and around the oldtown by foot or take a metro / tram to get to surounding areas. A lot of parking options to choose from as well.

    This apartment is at excellent location, within a walking distance to old town, city centre, river Vistula. Excellent connections with public transportation and there is a bicycle rental service right around the corner. And we found bicycles as the best option to discover the city. We stayed in 10C apartment which was exactly what we expected, everything clean and tidy, equipped with everything you need, even though it is just a basic apartment. You can also use bus 175 to get to the airport directly.

    The hotel is of extremely high quality, the hotel environment and service staff are top class, the bed is soft, the atmosphere is enchanting, the cleanliness is impressive, the parking is safe and tidy, only a bit expensive at €35 per night, which seems to be really expensive when paying that much for parking in Poland... We will definitely come back and I recommend it to anyone planning to stay in Warsaw.

    Great place to stay in Warsaw for short or long trips. I always try to book this hotel, while I'm in Warsaw. Great location, free parking (or paid underground), and very good breakfast (one of the best breakfasts in Poland, I've tried). Great gym with city view (on the top floor).
