Baan Mali is a 70 sqm near new, self contained private apartment of an open-plan design in a quiet no-exit street 20 minutes from the old city or airport. Access is by exterior stairs to the first floor and across a bridge. It's situated in a beautiful, area of Chiang Mai with several outstanding Thai restaurants close by serving delicious Northern Thai food. It's safe to walk around the area at night and house security is excellent, as native English speaking manager lives on the premises in another apartment. The apartment has everything in it you could possibly want. The kitchen has filtered drinking water, coffee maker, refrigerator, hob, microwave, toaster and rice cooker. The living and dining area has air-con, TV, DVD player with hundreds of movies etc, plus a Bose stereo with smart phone connection. Fast wifi 100/60 Mb is available throughout the apartment. It has single bedroom with a double queen sized bed, air-con, fan, and a smoke and carbon monoxide detector. It has its own private bathroom with hair dryer, fresh soap, shampoo and conditioner. Self-service laundry is free (but please provide your own powder) and housekeeping services are available.

Chiang Mai is a tourist city with all the amenities of a modern city, but still retains its old-world charm and is handy to many tourist activities from bungee jumping, elephant nature parks, carousing with tigers, zip lining, and day trips on a rented scooter into the mountains. It's just been voted the 2nd best city in the world to live by the prestigious Travel + Leisure website? What keeps me young is building schools in Laos in remote riverside villages along the Mekong River where we also run kayaking, cruises and mountain biking adventure tours, plus I still do a lot of off-road motorcycling. Like most people here, I'm very relaxed, and know all the best places to eat, and visit depending on your preferences, along with all the exciting places you wont find listed in Lonely Planet or Trip Advisor.

Baan Mali is situated in a quiet suburb that is typically Thai to the South East of the old city, with rice fields, lumyai orchards, and mainly older style wooden teak houses, with some fabulous, inexpensive Thai restaurants within walking or cycling distance nearby. The street is a no exit, so there is no through traffic and the Thai neighbours are very friendly. There's a small shop 100m away for daily snacks, beer, etc, with a Tesco mini store, banks, French bakery, coffee, and a 7/11 1km away at 89 Plaza. Or you can use the 2 free mountain bikes to explore the area, as there is great cycling through the country side or to the new Promenada Mall 15 minutes away, or a 6 kms cycle into town to the Night Bazaar. We'd recommend that you hire a scooter to explore Chiang Mai as so many of the adventure activities are situated 20 to 40kms out of town.
