NorwayNyksund is a tiny old fishing village about as far west in Norway as you can get, 350km north of the Arctic Circle. Year-round population around 50. Accomodations were basic, clean and comfortable. What makes Ekspedisjonen special is the food at the bustling restaurant with an extensive menu, so unexpected in such a small place. My wife pronounced the fish & chips the "best ever." I agree. I had the piggvar (turbot) with shrimp in Sandefjørd smør. Perfectly prepared and delicious! Breakfast was goid and plentiful, especially the røkt kveite ((smoked halibut). Just before we checked out, the chef posted the evening's dinner specials that included free-range roast lamb with rosti and turnips with an onion jus, so we decided to make an extra hour's detour from our next destination just to come back for dinner. Again, superbly prepared by the chef, Ringo. Excellent wine list and beer from local breweries. If Ekspedisjonen wasn't a 21-hour drive from home, we'd be back at least once a week.
