Amazing amenities (private onsen was the best), close proximity to great restaurants and bars (walking distance, but still peaceful and quiet at Belnina), delicious home cooked breakfast buffet, and the absolute kindest owner. A 10-minute drive from Hakuba Happo-One Winter Ski Resort, Pension Tomato offers spacious Western-style rooms with a loft area. Free WiFi is available at the entire property and guests can reserve a private open-air bath overlooking the forest. A free shuttle is available from JR Hakuba Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking. Forest views are available from the 2nd floor of the accommodation. Love it. Super friendly hosts who helped us a lot, offered to pick us up, take us to hire gear at echoland (with discount at affiliated store), take us to deliver our luggage and send us to the station upon checking out. Booked restaurants for us too since we didn't have a local phone number. Thank you so much! Great accommodation, very cosy and nice atmosphere, vending machine inside, 2 onsen rooms (one of which has an outdoor onsen too, very nice in the snow) which can be used privately by booking each day. Drying room for ski gear is very convenient. Short walking distance (<5 min) to free local bus stop to goryu, happo, iwatake and also to echoland base camp for the hakuba valley shuttle. Buses only run a few each day and finish pretty early, best to not miss the last one as getting a taxi can be a pain! Breakfast needs to be booked by 10am from the previous day, but it's amazing, highly recommended.

Each accommodation at the 2-star ryokan has quiet street views, and guests can enjoy access to a public bath. The ryokan features family rooms. The location is fantastic for the bus shuttle. Be sure to book with the breakfast and have a dinner there. The breakfasts and the Sukiyaki were some of the best meals I had on my stay in Japan. The room itself is quite spacious than what I was anticipating and the beds keep you warm.

The property is situated 5.4 km from Tsugaike Kogen Ski Area, 45 km from Nagano Station and 46 km from Zenkoji Temple. The guest house features a public bath and luggage storage space. Three of us stayed here for 5 days. We had the best time! The accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable with great facilities, including a storage area for all of our ski and snowboard gear. There’s also a bus station right down the street that takes you to Iwatake (which you can then transfer to another bus that takes you to every resort.) The best part were the owners — they were so kind and welcoming even though we did not speak Japanese. They cooked us breakfast and dinner and both were so delicious. We highly recommend and would definitely stay again! Thank you so much for the wonderful stay😁
