Check the dates and times that you can participate in this. Long security lines, but it goes relatively quickly. I didn't know much about the history before going, so honestly it wasn't the most interesting place we went and it was very busy.
Bring your passport, they do check it at multiple points. If you go to the flag raising ceremony, you get a bigger crowd on weekend. Be aware that they raise the flag just at the crack of dawn, get there at least two hours ahead if you want front row (if you're not in the front, you're not going to see it, because parents will raise their kids on their shoulders).
Not much here unless you go inside the museum etc. But the museum can take up to a well to properly see everything inside. Cover up. Very hot and no shade. Tru and go away 7pm to see them take the flag down but get the very early to get a good view
Really just a very large square - but do persevere and wait for the lowering of the flag, to watch the synchronised marching display. But be warned, the locals gather to watch and you need to be in position 30 minutes before sunset.
The security check for the square is the same as for the forbidden city. No ticket is needed for the square but if you want to enter the forbidden city get your hotel or a chinese friend to help you buy them early that day online. There’s a daily visitor limit for the forbidden city.(At the gate they check your passports to confirm the purchase and give you the tickets.)
Not a great deal to see apart from a flat space with a lot (a hell of a lot) of security. When we were there there was a localised security shutdown which resulted in barriers, numerous security checks and no go zones and a 1km detour to avoid it. Overrated in my opinion.
I've made special request to not include any disposable toiletries in our room and they've done that for us. And we have asked for no room fragrance, they have also met our request. The location was fab, it was 5 minutes away from the underground station; 2 stops away from Wang Fu Jing; 3 stops away from Tiananmen Square; yet the area the hotel is in is quite quiet. The staff were nice and polite. We had access to the executive lounge and it was great. We enjoyed our breakfast there.
The property is soooo beautiful. The restaurante on the 3rd floor (i believe) is very beautiful and delicious. The room was fairly spacious for 2 people and 4 suitcases. It was clean and comfortable. The front desk ladies were very helpful. Around the hotel there were many places to visit and many restaurants. Tiananmen Square is only 20 min away, walking. The hotel exceeded my expectations that I had by looking the photos.
Location was perfect, super close to the metro and Tiananmen square. Staff is always ready to answer all of your questions and the tour to the Great wall was great! It costs 300 RMB and you go to the section where there are no many tourists, and plus you meet cool people from the hostel. There is a bar in the hostel where you can hang out and meet other passengers.
The location could not be better for the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the National Museum and other sites. The staff at the hotel are incredibly helpful and the onsite restaurant is a nice plus. This was my second visit-I will be back.
Location was good as we wanted to go Tiananmen square in morning and it was easily accessible. Hotel staff was not speaking english. There was no window in the room. Very small washroom and condition was not good.
walking distance to Tiananmen Square, Beijing New World Shopping Mall. Beijing Train Station, subway station just out the hotel. Shops and Restaurants are near by the hotel.
