Louvre Museum
Away from the adoring crowds that gather before the glass-encased-and-untouchable vision of the Mona Lisa, the Louvre stashes a veritable treasure trove of artistic gems. Corridors run above and below ground for such a distance that it would take you over 100 years to gaze at every masterpiece for just 30 seconds.

I recommend to go on a Friday as it closes at 9.45 pm whereas the other days close at 6.00pm. Also be sure to go to the toilet before you enter the museum otherwise you spend half an hour to use the facilities!
I enjoyed the Louvre Museum as there was so much to see!

I reccomend for pictures go across the way where the park is ( go towards the golden statues) there is a pretty empty place where you can stand high enough for the iconic holding the Louvre by the top.

We visited the Louvre on a Thursday in July. We pre-purchased tickets on the website with an entry time of 10:00 AM, and barely waited 5 minutes outside before getting in. Definitely recommend an early entry time!

Art feast. Great value.
Art feast. Great value.
Unfortunately, there are no Chinese exhibits. There is a hard-to-find pavilion called "African, Asian, and American Art", but only a small amount of totem art from the South Pacific Islands. Is this a deliberate "cultural shielding"?

The Louvre Museum is a timeless treasure trove of art and history, captivating visitors with its vast collection and iconic architecture. Home to thousands of works of art, including the famous Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, the museum offers a journey through the ages, from ancient civilizations to the Renaissance and beyond.
Stepping into the Louvre is like stepping into a world of beauty and wonder. Its grand halls and galleries are filled with masterpieces that have inspired artists and art lovers for centuries. Each piece tells a story, offering a glimpse into the minds and cultures of the past.
Beyond its art collection, the Louvre's architecture is a work of art in itself. The stunning glass pyramid, designed by architect I.M. Pei, serves as a modern entrance to this ancient institution, symbolizing the museum's role as a bridge between the past and the present.
A visit to the Louvre is not just a visit to a museum—it's a journey through time and a celebration of human creativity. It's a place where the wonders of the world come together, creating an unforgettable experience for all who enter its hallowed halls.

This museum is much bigger than I expected.
This museum is much bigger than I expected. There is so much to see here you could spend multiple days exploring it all. We got tickets for the second entry of the day, which was perfect. We were able to get up to the ropes at the Mona Lisa, did that first before all the crowds. That floor is almost impossible to get around later in the day. The 2nd floor had way less crowds and so many artifacts and art. Even the kids (12 & 14) were impressed by it all!

Go to the Louvre on a Thursday, it's a lot quieter. Don't queue up at the pyramid; use the underground entrance next to the metro. If you're under 26, don't queue for a ticket, just show your passport at the entrance to the exhibitions

Choose hotels and restaurants that aren't "name-branded" chains. Explore side streets. Go to mass instead of just touring Notre Dame or Sacre Coeur. Visit the Louvre on Sunday when it is free to mingle with the locals. Take the metro instead of cabs. It's cheaper and can be part of the adventure if you live in a city without a subway.

Musee d'Orsay had an exhibition of Van Gogh's work which was amazing. I also really enjoyed Musee Rodin which has his sculptures displayed in the gardens which are worth a visit in their own right. The scent of roses was lovely. It is also great to watch the artists at work in the streets around Sacre Coeur Cathedral. The architecture of buildings in Paris is also really attractive and varied. And then there is the Louvre - really too much to take in on one visit.
