I felt very comfortable staying on a solo trip and could find everything easily from here. The eggs benny with salmon was the best I have ever tasted! I will never find a better one. Also the shower was spectacular. Reception and also email responses were friendly.

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Bath is a perfect first stop for travellers to Great Britain. The city is lovely with lots of history, lots to see and and lots to do but not overwhelming. The restaurants are great too. You can tell people who live in Bath love their city. Don't forget to check out Prior Park Landscape Garden, a great escape from the city, very close to the city and easy to get to. We happen to be in Bath during the Jane Austen Festival which is usually held in mid September for about 10 days. Plan to spend 5 days in Bath so you don't feel rushed.

Bath has lots to offer, we visited the Abbey, Roman Baths, we did the open top bus tours and a boat trip. We ate at Sally Lunn’s enjoying their famous buns and trencher meals. There are plenty of shops many independent in side streets and a quirky bookshop and indoor market. There were many museums we didn’t see. On our last evening we went to the viewing point in Alexandra Park and had a wonderful view of the city. I was sad to leave as the Jane Austen week was starting.

Great city, excellent for history and culture. Amazing food scene too. Most attractions around the city centre so easily walkable. For the ladies, there’s ample shopping. Must visit are the Roman Baths and Sally Lunn’s Historic Tea House & Museum. Everyone sees Pulteney Bridge one way or the other since quite a nit of attractions and restaurants are expected there near it or across from it. Be sure to view the weir though.

The city is so easy to walk around, it’s steeped in history and has lots of activities. We did the Thermae Spa which was great, then Sally Lunn’s for lunch, then the Jane Austen Centre which was a lot of fun dressing up and then the Bridgerton walking tour the following day. It was a really fun mini break.

A beautiful city, we paid a visit to the Thermae Spa, we walked to see some of the lovely sites and tried lovely restaurants, as well as taking a walk along the Bath Two Tunnels railway line. We needed more time as we didn't get chance to do everything, including visiting the cathedral or the Roman Baths.

Such a beautiful and magical city. The architecture was incredible which due to my mobility was observed on an open topped tour bus. Everyone we met in the cafes and shops were delightful and so helpful. It was a short trip I organised to celebrate my nieces 50th birthday…….. she too loved everything about Bath.

Try and go on an organised walking tour as it was so interesting and helpful. Beautiful buildings, many individual shops, great restaurants. We went to the Thermae spa which was lovely, roof top pool with Bath mineral water, jacuzzi, steam rooms, sauna. Jane Austen museum was great if you are a fan. So much to see and do, definitely worth a visit. It is worth noting that it is a busy place.

The obvious highlights of the city are the Roman Baths, the Abbey, Royal Crescent, general architecture and shops. Try to book onto one of the regular walking tours given by the Mayor's volunteers - absolutely free of any charge (tips not even allowed)!

The Roman Baths are amazing. The city streets are also well worth looking at, all the architecture is so much more interesting than modern shopping centres. We had a meal at The Ivy, which was the best meal we had in Bath. It was expensive but so delicious. We walked all over the area, but some attractions would not be suitable for people in wheelchairs for example. There is so much to see and do you cannot do justice to Bath with a short visit, I think a week would be more suitable, to see most of the sights.

Bath is always a great place to visit - the Abbey, the Baths, good art and lovely Georgian architecture. The Holbourne Museum is well worth a visit and there is often something extra going on, like the Jane Austen procession, an show and the art trail. The Theatre Royal is a hidden gem and worth visiting to see a show. Parking is terrible but there are reasonably priced taxis. More difficult with the buses, though. Lovely walking along the canal and in the parks and just around the town. Bath is also a good centre for visiting some of the other wonderful things to do and see in the immediate area.

An historic city with buildings mostly made of stone giving it a great look. Bus services were brilliant and there is plenty to see and do. The Royal Crescent, Roman Baths and Pulteney Bridge are not to be missed. The House of Frankenstein is also fantastic. It is a friendly place with many shops too.

It’s a very beautiful city with loads of historic buildings and places to see. It’s close to such historic sites and Amesbury, Salisbury and Stonehenge. Worth visiting. We lived Baba’s meze Persian restaurant a lot, also Guinness pub. We visited the Circus district, Roman Baths, Jane Austin’s museum.

I took 2 bus tours around the city - one of the city skyline and the other of the city centre as both were included in the price. Found a couple of independent bookshops and an amazing cheese stall in the Guildhall Market- Cheese Nibbles. It was small but had some excellent cheeses. I also had a great meal at Magari - a small Italian restaurant in Shires Yard - and a glass of wine and the total was £18, which was excellent value.

Plenty to do in Bath. Good to see a thriving town. Enjoyed the city bus tour, the Roman Baths are very interesting and the tour has been very well planned. Good to see a thriving indoor market. Went to the Herscel Museum. An excellent visit giving the sense of an ordinary Georgian town house. The kitchen especially. The science was complex but illustrated the supreme intelligence of Herscel and his sister and son.

The Roman Baths are great, I recommend booking a guided tour for added impact. Bath Abbey is worth a visit as well. Tuesday afternoons (in the summer) feature a free organ recital...not all pieces were to our liking but we enjoyed the music and ambience. Simply walking down the streets of Bath is also a treat with a buzzing atmosphere and many interesting shops. We stopped at Poulteney Bridge to check if any boats were turning round. We also visited the Crescent and the Circus, wonderful examples of Georgian architecture. With a great night life too Bath is well worth a visit!!

Definitely worth visiting Roman Baths and Pulteney Bridge. High Street shopping was also nice and lots of restaurants within walking distance. Art gallery was a really nice break in day as well. Definitely try these places to eat: Mokoko Bakery, Society Cafe, the giggling squid and Thai Balcony.

The Roman baths were well worth the money and the city was full of interesting history.A bustling township but slso tranquil down by the river and in the parks.The Georgian buildings reminded us of Jane Austen productions and her novels so visiting the Jane Austen museum was a must. Ate at the Saracen pub where Charles Dickens lived and wrote the Pickwick papers We took a day trip to Oxford and the Cotswolds which extended our knowledge of the wider area.

Bath is a very nice place with really good cuisine. Unfortunately, we experienced a racist attack around 9 pm near Sydney gardens when someone driving a car slowed down and, through an open window, screamed at us: I will kill you!, and cowardly took off immediately. I did not even have time to record his car registration.

One can easily see and enjoy the main attractions of Bath within one to two days, primarily on foot. While the city centre was quite busy and a little untidy due to some roadworks and litter, there are lovely aspects to the city (particulary parks and areas with lots of benches for sitting and watching the world go by). We had a lovely meal in The Real Italian. The Jane Austen centre is worth a visit.

Such a cute little town. Definitely worth visiting but I wouldn’t come for more than 2 nights. They had free walking tours which was amazing!!! And actually free!! (No tips accepted) The guide was top notch. So beautiful when the sun was out. Visiting the parks were a lovely free activity to do.

This is a beautiful hotel in a reasonably quiet location that is very convenient for the city centre of Bath. It was useful to have parking on site. Staff were friendly and very accommodating and our room was spacious, stylish and spotlessly clean. The grounds are well maintained and there was plenty of seating to sit outside. We dined in the hotel restaurant on our last evening and the food and service were excellent.

Spotlessly clean, comfortable and cosy boutique hotel in centre of Bath. Extremely comfortable bed and nice size bathroom and spacious walk-in shower. Lots of nice finishing touches in the room. Sarah at reception and breakfast was delightful - friendly, personable and helpful. She is a real asset to Broad Street Townhouse. Cleaning staff also very friendly and super thorough. We enjoyed our two-night stay here.

Convenient for our requirement to be near friends who live on this side of Bath. The hotel is comfortable and has a nice atmosphere. It is set in attractive parkland and near the canal, good for gentle strolls or more active running. It is a short and pleasant walk from the hotel into Bath city centre.
