The room boasted high ceilings and ample space, complemented by blackout curtains guaranteeing a restful night's sleep. While not situated in the city's heart, its proximity to a nearby bus stop made it conveniently accessible. The peaceful ambiance of the area made a leisurely 2-mile stroll to the city center quite appealing. Attention to detail was evident throughout, with pleasant and intriguing decor featuring soothing neutral tones. The spacious bathroom was a highlight, though I regretted not having more time to indulge in it. Overall, the atmosphere felt welcoming and hospitable, akin to being at home. I enthusiastically recommend this place for a delightful stay.

FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

I was meeting friends in Bath for a few days, as they were at the end of a walking tour. They were staying in a much posher hotel but for the difference in price, the Royal Hotel was the perfect place. Directly across the street from the train station and less than a 10-minute walk to the centre of town. Because I arrived in the late afternoon, it was not nearly so touristy as I remembered and was able to see what a compact, walkable city centre Bath has. That first night one of the others had booked us a dinner at Sally Lunn's. We were very lucky as so many people were turned away after us. So definitely book online. The second day, we arranged to meet at the Jane Austen Centre for tea. Good array of sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats. The meringue was to die for! I had booked a guided tour at the Roman Baths and we were all delighted with Iain, our guide, who told such colourful and vivid stories. We spent the afternoon in a pub, played silly trivia games, drank Pimm's, and stayed for a light dinner. We had walked around the inner part of the city for 2 days and saw just about everything we wanted to see. One more full day would have been perfect but this gives me more reason to go back again, and not wait 36 years in between visits!

Getting around Bath is super easy, as almost everything is within walking distance. It’s a lovely city, though surprisingly crowded with tourists for its size, but definitely worth a visit. The food variety is good. The Roman Baths is a must-do experience. Bath Abbey is a good location too (if you're visiting with kids, don't forget to grab the activity booklet at the entrance; it keeps them engaged:))

Bath is a beautiful city.

Bath is a beautiful city. The architecture and buildings are wonderful. Plenty of restaurants to eat in - although quite expensive. Zizzi’s special 3 course set menu was better value. The free guided walk from outside the Abbey was entertaining and very informative. So much to do in Bath - if only I had more time.

Bath has so much history the Abby needs a visit but start by taking a bus sightseeing tour. A full ticket gives you access to outer and town tours, this shows the main attractions to visit. The Jane Austen house will open yours eyes to her world. A visit to the Thermae Bath is a must. Bath gets very busy with tourists from all countries but you have plenty of places to sit listen to music or, get a nice cold drink

This is one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed at so far. It is in an old 18th century building but was recently renovated. The decour, the choice of colours (loved the royal blue with white), the finishing, the attention to detail - everything was superb. Our room faced the inner garden that added to the beauty of the place. The bed was super comfortable, there was also slippers and robes for the guests. The staff was very nice, helpful and responsive. When I am in Bath again, I will definitelystay in Kennard again!

Beautiful hotel located not far from Bath city centre (15 min walk) with wonderful decorations and friendly, helpful staff. The spa was really enjoyable, especially the outside heated spa pool. The room was faultless and very decadent with a 4 poster bed to our surprise. Gorgeous marble bathroom with wooden features. The room had a lovely coffee machine which was great.
