we by chance did a tour - while in a queue a woman was touting for business. we said yes because it meant we skipped the queue. we were so glad we'd done it - she was fabulous. so knowledgeable. we really enjoyed it.
Climbing the Acropolis is an emotional event. The magnificence of the marble monuments, the view over the city, the greatness of the Parthenon, of the Erechteion, of the Propilea... Do some reading before you go, to fully appreciate and understand. Don't forget the Museum, at the bottom. If you have energy left, do the Agora upon coming back, or just enjoy the Psiri or Plaka areas.
It was nice, took many beautiful pictures, and the city view is great. This is a must-see touristic landmark for every tourist who visits Athens. On the other note, it was VERY crowded, and naturally, you'll have to walk a lot to get into and out of the temples.
Going to the Acropolis was a great experience. It costs €20 to go up but there is a pass you can get for several attractions that brings the average cost down. Students get into several of the archaeological sites and museums for free.
A huge site to walk through and see everything. Take your time - but go as early as possible. The tour groups swamp everything. A majestic site so worth seeing. Do buy the season ticket allowing you entrance t the other main sites as well. Take water with, the stalls sell coloured, flavoured ice - no water. We took water with but not enough.
Fantastic experience to be in the cradle of modern civilisation. Pre-booking is essential to limit queuing and an early start is best. Avoid Cruise ship days!! (Thursday in our case) Choose 30EUR multi-venue pass if interested in multiple sites.

the hotel is located in the perfect area to discover athens by walking: 3 minutes from syntagma square, 5 from monastiraki square, 15 from the entrance of acropolis and its museum. from the thea terrace bar on the roof top you can experience the most astonishing views of the acropolis. the staff is amazing, helpful, at full disposal to fulfil your requests. breakfast is a feast to the eye: from bread to pies, eggs cooked in different ways, biscuits, greek yogurt with various toppings (try the preserved cherries...wow!), fruits and juices.

Excellent hotel in Psiri, a safe, full-of-restaurants, hipster-like area of Athens. The hotel is a boutique-style accomodation, with amazing staff, great breakfast and spacious rooms. You will be located in walking distance from all major Athens landmarks (Acropolis, Syntagma square, Plaka). Also, Monastiraki metro station is 5-minutes from the hotel, from where you have a metro direct line towards Athens Airport (45 min). Overall, this hotel is highly recommended for all types of travellers, including families with kids.

The hotel is located in The Plaka which is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Athens. There are hundreds of restaurants and stores located just 3 blocks away from this hotel. The Acropolis is like 1 Km away (20 minutes walking) The staff was simply amazing! Yannis was the most helpful guy I have ever met. One thing that I loved was that they will give you a cell phone that you can take with you so you can use it outside the hotel (therefore you won´t get lost in the city). That was extremely useful.

The hotel is perfectly located at the heart of the city. Rooms are large and so is the bathroom. Breakfast is great. We had to leave at 4am and they delivered some breakfast to our room. Staff is extremely professional and nice. While the square is full of people the rooms are very quite. I would surely chose this hotel when I'm back in Athens. 10 meters from the metro station. The roof garden restaurant is with very beautiful day and night view of the Acropolis.

Even my 6 yo daughter loved the apartment! The property was super clean, luxurious and warm! The location is leterally at the center of Athens, between Syndagma Square, Monastiraki and of course Plaka. The view from the large balcony was amazing! At the right side was Acropolis which is way closer than photos can tell. Straight ahead you can see Mount Lycabettus and of course you can see people walking on Ermou st. Great City Vibes!

Stayed for a few days after a business trip to explore Athens, this Hotel is very central and within walking distance of many of the main sites and attractions, the area around the hotel feels safe to walk around, even at night. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Easy walking distance to main shopping street on Ermlou. Overall a great location and worth paying the extra for a room with the Acropolis view

The location of the hotel is the best you can find in Athens. You can find in a few minutes walking distance everything, from restaurants, taverns, bars to archaeological sites. As for the restaurant on the upper floor, is the one of the best feel good bars with the greatest view of Acropolis in Athens. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Hotel is located next to metro station at the same line as Acropoli station. For those who like walking it is only 2,5 km to ancient part of Athens. The rooms are very nice, big and good quality finished. A room with a view of the city skyline and Acropolis is worth of it's extra charge.
9.9 Exceptional 16 reviews
Excellent location for all of Athens historic sites. Breath taking view of The Acropolis by day and by night. The very spacious apartment. Lovely balcony to have breakfast or coffees and just sit and stare at the Acropolis.
Go beyond the Acropolis and explore the Agora and Kerameikos, imagining yourself entering Athens along the road from the port of Piraeus, and following the Panathenaic Way to the Akropolis. Stop at the museums along the way to understand the significance of each site. Then visit the National Archaeological Museum to see that classical Athens is just one of Greece's many magnificent cultures.
The new Acropolis museum is a must see and a visit to the museum of Archaeology is a close second.
If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!
Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
The museums were free on certain days. The opening days and time of the new Acropolis museum was incorrect.
The new Acropolis museum was truly impressive with modern displays & interpretations.
