Murano

A quick vaporetto ride whisks you from central Venice to laid-back Murano, the glass-blowing capital of the world. An archipelago of seven tiny islands connected by bridges, Murano is just a mile across and best explored on foot. Its maze of narrow streets and canals inspire dreamy wandering, with ancient churches and medieval glassworks hidden around every corner.

We visited Murano and Burano Islands.

We visited Murano and Burano Islands. Our boat ride was very noisy so we could not hear the tour guide at all as he spoke about the sites on our way to the islands. The tours on the islands themselves were very good. The glass blowing experience was very informative and our guide shared some personal experiences about growing up on Burano Island. Definitely recommend this 1/2 trip.

So glad we decided to stay in Murano our first three nights...

So glad we decided to stay in Murano our first three nights in Italy. We were so curious about the canals and booking the water taxi was the perfect way to transport from the station, seeing much of Venice as we made our way to Murano, and the next day to the other island stops. We enjoyed visiting the shops along the canals in Murano and also walking the interior. It's interesting and beautiful. We enjoyed outside patio dining at Osteria al Duomo so much we returned a second night. They also have later dining hours than most of the restaurants. Great food, atmosphere, and friendly staff. It's a hidden gem you will discover after walking through to the back door and onto the patio area. Don't let the front entrance appearance fool you. Enjoy!

Loved the authentic surroundings - we got a taste of how it feels to live in Venice - the artwork and Murano glass chandelier were beautiful. Very roomy for my daughter and I we were able to spread out and not disturb each other as neither of us travel light

It’s away from the busyness of Venice but a short ride on the vaporetto, with the ferries at least hourly via Murano. Sant’Erasmo is a quiet island. Lots of walking. Breakfast was nice at the property and great pizza in the evenings

Fabulously decorated hotel, beautifully clean, very friendly and helpful staff, special thanks to Lia ❤️ Calm and quiet location, steps from the waterbus stop, round the corner from a bustling square full of bars and restaurants. Short walk to Accademia Bridge, Rialto or St Mark's Square. Recommend taking the water taxi to Murano, Burano or Lido to escape the crowds. A multi trip 2 day ticket was perfect for us to see everything we wanted. The string concert suggested by Lia was an amazing experience.

The apartment was spotless, modern and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing trip. Murano was an excellent location, first stop on the water boat from the airport and a short journey over to Venice. There was plenty of restaurants to choose from and lots of Murano glass shops to browse around. Communication from the host (Angie) was first class from start to finish.

The hotel is in a quiet pocket but right on the canal. You literally hear what the gondoliers are saying to their passengers. The room was basic, but very clean and spacious with a beautiful Murano glass type chandelier, and with a canal view to die for. The shared toilets were clean and no issue.

The location was perfect for access to the main sights in Venice and public transport. The staff was very helpful and pointed out local restaurants to try and offered a complimentary experience to Murano. Accommodation was very comfortable and clean, and our room was quiet during the evenings.

Hotel Gabrielli stood out for the quality of its service. The staff were consistently attentive and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The concierge team deserves a special mention: they seamlessly organised a day trip to Murano, handling all the logistics so we could simply enjoy the experience. That kind of proactive, personalised service makes a real difference. Breakfast was excellent — generous, well-presented. And the rooftop is simply stunning.
