Do this walk in the morning (the earlier the better as the view will be clearer). We left at 7:30am and got to see the view halfway up but at the top there was lots of fog. Still worth doing the hike with the fog because it's so eerie in the forest with the fog. Also recommend walking on past the wooden hut at the top - there's another lookout ~1.5km on where you can see Ramana Waterfall if it's clear.

Stop at the little family-run smoothie shop on the way up! I ordered a mango smoothie and was presented a tray of mangos to choose from (I might have gotten this totally wrong! as a vegetarian, I never get to choose what specific food I want (like in seafood restaurants). Honestly, I chose random mangos. I am not an expert! My mangoes were taken in the back, chopped, and blended! After the hike up Elle Rock, that smoothie his the spot. Maybe I chose the right mangos:) I love supporting local family businesses (easy in SL) and I love Mango smoothies. The hike was amazing, too! On my way down I met some local youths hiking up for camping in flip-flops and huge bags! I recommend good hiking shoes! That said it is a pleasant hike with gorgeous views and a lot of friendly people!

Trying to get up Ella rock really ruined our day. Not very well mapped out, and locals trying to take you the wrong way. I wish we had went to Little Adams Peak or the bridge instead. I do not recommend this hike.

Be aware there are ‘ so called guides’ who will trick you into thinking you are lost so that you need their services. We fell for this scam, couldn’t shake him off !! Ended upgiving him £7.50 - not the end of the world.

From Kithalella railway the hike takes about 40 - 60 minutes...
From Kithalella railway the hike takes about 40 - 60 minutes depending on your fitness. It is a tough uphill for about 20 minutes and recommend walking shoes or trainers. Young children will find this difficult! Lovely view from the top of the area and across from little Adams Peak.

Be prepared for a good 3hrs hike ! Is reallly steep during the 2nd and last path to the peak ! But the view on the peak definitely worth the efforts! While on the way to the base , you will need to go through some railway and even villages be really sure that you have checked the direction with your hostel’s staff and not listen to any local that approaches you telling you that the path you going is wrong! They will bring you to some tall bushes and start telling you they wanted to charge you heaps! . Make sure your phone is fully charged and with google maps installed , these will help you if you really lost or lost in bushes !

The View was amazing. That was one of the best views we have ever seen. The view of Ella rock was amazing. When I chose it first I was a little bit reluctant but when I went there I was so happy and I felt like I am lucky to visit a place like that. The room was so clean and the breakfast was so delicious. The hotel staff was so friendly and they helped us a lot. Suggesting Mount Blue View Guest Inn for everyone who is staying in Ella without any hesitation.

Clean towels, hand soap, kettle, warm water. We ordered dinner from the hotel as well and it was really good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We got a taxi with them for 9,000 rupees to Yala which was great.

This hostel is the best one I stayed during the entire trip in sri lanka. The manager meheshi and volunteer are great and help everything. So its the ppl make this place and plus they have a million dollar view platform you can chillout for ella rock view.I love the bing bag there. Highly recommend.
