IsraelWe were told not to expect too much from accommodations in Banaue, so we were very pleasantly surprised to enjoy the very spacious, clean room, with the wonderful view over the valley from the balcony.
The staff, and especially Jenifer did everything to help in the usual Filipino smile from the heart.
I am sure anyone booking this hotel will be very satisficed and I am happy to recommend Tam-An Hotel, they were excellent value for money.

NorwayThe view from the terrace is to die for! You enter the Guesthouse from the back side, get out on the terrace, and it's all revealed in front of you, this gigantic amphitheater of rice terraces with a backdrop of forest clad mountains, absolutely stunning. This is still rural Philippines, there's no road access. Everything got to be carried in. My room was better and more spacious than many budget rooms in the cities. Don't think the bedding is changed between each guest though, at least not the warm blanket , but I'm prepared and have everything. Clean common bathrooms with hot showers, but you have to bring everything else you need. There is no lock on the door, but I have a padlock as well. The food in the restaurant is incredibly good and made with love and care. The beers are ice cold. The set up of the terrace with all the decorations is so beautiful, I haven't got words really. There is no cellphone coverage, but paid for cheap WiFi, which can be good enough to watch a movie, or bearly working at all. And for those who are reluctant to book, because it doesn't say you can.....then, yes you can do it here. Nothing of the above is a negative thing to me as I wouldn't expect more.

Get a local guide and talk to the ministry of tourism, so you can get a personal guide for your trip, much of the traveling here goes through private property, so you want to be with someone who knows their way around, lest you end up in someones back yard or private garden lost. The views are breath taking, but require some level of physical fittness. If you dont hike often be prepared for sore legs. try some of the local food and learn the variations in the language between the regions to experiuence an aditional level of hospitality. A real-life Shangri-la ! As the ancient Chinese poet Tao Yuanming described a rural Utopia in "Peach Blossom Spring", Banaue Valley flowing with numerous falls and abundant water is a refreshing site. Fabulous and unforgettable.
Fabulous and unforgettable. We stayed in a guest house overlooking the terraces in Banaue. We had a trip to Hapao terraces which we much larger and stunning. We hiked for an hour to get to the hot springs and were able to bathe before hiking back. Our guide was brilliant and took us a route that we could cope with. The Batad rice terraces were jaw dropping in their scale and beauty. The town of Banaue was undergoing an upgrade and a lot of building was being done. The road infrastructure to get there was being improved and the road widened. Local drivers have no fear but are safe. It was hard to get there and we used our guest house shuttle service from Cauayan. The best few days I have spent in the Philippines.
