I always loved this place, i feel it is the most place that represent the real turkey spirit, culture and environment, plus it is also a great place for shopping, walking, meeting new people, having chat with different cultures..
It's fun and a great way to waste a couple hours, but nothing in there is unique (even though they will claim it is) and almost everything is cheaper outside the Bazaar so don't get ripped off.
I found some quality copper items to make Turkish coffee for a great price. It was fun, but sort of taxing-nearly impossible to actually shop without being accosted and followed by EVERYONE! Do not engage, or speak-just walk by or you’ll spend 3-4x linger than necessary there.
We visited in the New Year’s Day with a great mood. Went in a lamb leather shop with a warm welcome guy’s invitation in front of this shop. We just asked my mother in law if she like anything so I buy for her like a gift but she refused as she doesn’t want us spend money for her. One lady assistant heard our conversation and soon ask me do I want to buy anything. I was in the shop for only 2 minutes so I said I am just looking! ( of course if I saw any good design that suits me I will try it on and buy after) she then said ( you no buy she no buy why come in?) that just ruined any mood of shopping so we said we can leave if you don’t allow browse and move towards the door. This woman then pushed behind and keep repeating. I then turned and said to her she is very rude and doesn’t know anything about business. She followed us out and shouted to us “ go back to your country!” The front guy apologised but this woman kept chasing and was even trying to touch us!!! I almost called the police! The shop was in the Main Street of Grand Bazaar, near the front door!
A maze of what seems like a million of shops, cafe's, restaurant. Trillions of trinkets to drive you hypnotizing crazy. You need a ton of $$$ (LoL). Plentiful of great options. Great place to be and experience
Don't buy anything from here.. This is really a good market to explore but it is not recommended to buy anything from here because prices are very high. You can buy the same thing from Istiklal street is 90% less price. The random shoes price in Grand Bazaar is up to 200 Lira where the same design show by the brand has been sold only in 50 Lira at istiklal street. So explore this place, take photos and may be even eat food around but don't shop until you are really really good in bargaining.
Good Hotel in the central part of Istanbul just few steps from the tram stop and bus stops, close to the Grand Bazaar and to a lot of PoI´s on foot or by tram. A lot of shops, restaurants, bars in the neighborhood. The room ant the bath were clean, and big enough, comfortable bed. Very good breakfast every morning on the top floor with great view. The hotel is on a corner with always heavy traffic, but it`s no problem coz of the soundproofed windows. I had a perfect stay here. I Would stay here again.
Nice hotel, very clean & comfortable . Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the Hotel Manager Suleyman. Free breakfast was super delicious. All tourist attractions Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Underground Cistern, Golden Horn, Grand Bazaar and Bosphorus, all are within 5 to 15 minutes walking distance. The Hotel is located within a restaurant districts. Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!
The staff is really good and very helpful. I never felt that I am away from home. The Hotel location is best for tourist, Hagia Sofia, SultanAhmad mosque , Palace , Grand Bazaar are at walkable distance. Spectacular view of sea from kitchen. There are lots of option for the break fast. I will recommend this place and definitely I will stay here again for next Istanbul trip. no second choice about that. Awesome staff.
The hotel has a great location, 5 minutes from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazaar and Kapali Carsi. There are a lot of restaurants and shops around. The people working there are kind and nice, the woman who works in the kitchen and prepares breakfast is very nice and speaks three foreign languages. Breakfast is wonderful and varied, there is something for everyone.
This hotel is in an ideal location. Quick access to all the shops and tourist attractions like hagia sophia, blue mosque, topkapi palace are all within walking distance. Also within walking distance is the Grand bazaar and a train station should you want to wander further out. We did however spend most of our time in the area of the hotel as it offers all you would look for istanbul
I really liked the Hotel. The staff was super friendly, the location is pretty great too. The Hotel is located near by a few restaurants, a couple grocery shops, a pharmacy, a tram station, a metro station and mainly a mosque which could be considered as a guiding point. (near the Grand Bazaar and Laleli, 3 stations away from the Haghia Sofya, The Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace)
This hotel's location could not be more perfect - it is in walking distance to the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and several tram stops. All staff were incredibly friendly and full of local knowledge. There was a large variety of food available for breakfast, and a many restaurants in walking distance for other meals. I would definitely stay here again.
The quality-price rate is excellent, the location is also great just a walking distance to Grand Bazaar. The staff are the most friendliest from all my Istanbul trips (I am a frequent traveller in Turkey). Breakfast was generous and the ingredients they use are not cheap.
hotel is very clean, breakfast is ok, location is very near to the grand bazaar. i was just shocked at first because of the renovation of the lobby but when i see our room everything is ok. SPA is super i enjoyed it.
Location is great - very close to Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar and other attractions. The stuff at the hotel was very nice.
Grand Bazar is just for visiting not for shopping as costs are higher here. The funny thing is that everything is about negotiation in shops or on the streets. You will have a big surprise that the final price you are paying it is with 30% - 50% less. I.e. Turkish yoyo on the street is 5TL but if you offer 2.5 TL you're gone have it :) Good look.
Visit The Grand Bazaar in the evening, before closing to avoid the crowd. For the rest of sightseeing afternoon around 3-5 pm is the least crowded time.
A large number of retail stores near by Sultanahmet, Cemberlitas and Grand bazar selling genuine leather shoes, they are offering latest models and a large number of brands at very good prices.
One can experience the contrast of the 1001 night feel of the grand bazaar to the slick city state of the art shopping malls , and to an antique flea market in the French quarter . A unique city
Grand bazaar is amazing but good luck getting round without being hassled
The atmosphere. You can find most of these things in other places but not in market places with such heady atmosphere as in Istanbul. It is an experience to spend time in Grand Bazaar even if you buy nothing. Shopping areas in India, my country, are equally interesting but they tend to be dirty and full of traps like potholes and overflowing drains. Istanbul has the atmosphere without these problems. The place we liked most was Arasta Bazaar near the Blue Mosque.
