This is a magical place. The owners could not be more helpful and kind. Fantastic food, lovely clean onsen, and shuttle to incredible ski parks- could not ask for more!

The view of Mount Myoko (i think) is amazing!!

LOVED THIS STAY! felt so traditional. We are from the US and loved the cultural experience. The onsen was amazing, and so was the meals! Loved breakfast and dinner. Above and beyond!! Tatami mat bedroom also loved.

Great location, super friendly staff. Everyone spoke English. Very children friendly and several guests brought their pets as well.

The staff are friendly and will go out of their way to assist their clients. We poorly planned our transportation, but the staff arranged rides for us even though it's not part of their operations. Also, there is an onsite ski and snowboard rental shop with good prices.

We had an AMAZING time at Soratobu Usagi! The location is awesome. We truly enjoyed the ski-in/ski-out location. We did a bit of research and were able to reach it by train and bus from Nozawa Onsen. The team made everything super easy for us from snowboard rentals to lift tickets. The onsen in the basement is so relaxing and a real highlight. Everything was very clean and we felt very comfortable and cozy. We speak zero Japanese but they were very willing to help us with everything. We ate most our meals there and everything was SO good! We hit some powder days which was a nice bonus as well. We would definitely stay here again and recommend you to book it now!

Friendly Family run Close to everything

This was my second time back at Woody House and I'll be back again next year. Midori and Kaz are super helpful and are wonderful hosts. They will also make sure you're getting to where you need to go for the day which is amazing. Wouldn't miss another season without coming here

The owners were incredibly sweet and welcoming. Even though I don’t speak Japanese and they don’t speak English, we still managed to communicate with the help of technology. Because I was traveling alone and it was my first time in Myoko without a car, getting to the ski resorts was quite challenging—especially during the New Year period, when no taxis were available at all. The owners kindly offered to drive me back and forth so I wouldn’t get stranded at the resorts, which I was deeply grateful for. The best part was the food. Both dinner and breakfast were authentic Japanese-style meals, which are surprisingly hard to find in the Myoko area. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a truly Japanese stay in Myoko!

I had an absolutely wonderful time staying here! The place was dated but spotless, and very comfortable. From the moment I arrived, I received such a warm welcome from the incredibly kind and lovely hosts. The care and attention were truly amazing and made my stay extra special. I loved every moment of my time here and would absolutely love to come back! The location is fantastic—just a short walk to the ski area, which was perfect!

We loved this stay! A nice tidy cottage. They have a private sauna with extra charge. The owner is helpful and always response so promptly. It has a coffee machine. They have enough dishes for all of us. We were a big group and so it was a bit packed for all and we hit our head to the stairs couple of times haha

Incredibly warm and friendly staff, we felt so welcome and comfortable the entire stay. Was great having a large lounge downstairs with a bar and food available so we could gather there together with friends who were staying at nearby lodging. It’s a short walk to all the activity/restaurants on the main drag, and to the ski lift/ticket office. Facilities are older but very clean and we never lacked for anything. We appreciated the fresh hot tea and treats each afternoon in the room, and great breakfast/coffee each morning. Shinja, Kenji, Hitomi and their families were so sweet and incredibly helpful with everything to make sure we had an enjoyable visit. We are planning to stay at Hotel Mumon again on any future visits to the area!

It’s just right in the snow resort. The staff are friendly. Especially the staff who assisted us on our very first time going snow driving. We enjoyed it very much!

Staff were very friendly, our room was simple but large compared with all of our other stays in Japan. Beds were comfortable and the temperature was perfect with individual heaters in each room. They have plenty of storage for snowboard/ski gear in a separate room. The walk is about 10 minutes uphill to the bus stop & a resort lift, this was no problem for us but this could be more challenging for some. They do offer lifts to and from the bus stop/ski resort from the accommodation for one hour in the morning and after your ski day which is helpful with ski boots! Breakfast was toast and hot fresh made to order eggs, sausage & ham as well as coffee and a selection of tea. We were there over Chinese New Year and welcomed for a traditional dinner with the hosts and their visiting family which was awesome. Normally they offer a paid dinner if you plan with them the day before. Bathrooms and showers are shared but were very clean. Overall we had a wonderful, quiet and restful stay here, thank you!

The ownership and staff really went out of their way to accommodate all of our requests, which were unusual and challenging. They are great people!

Location & Accommodation: David the owner has kept the authentic Japanese style of the property, and built into the property western comforts and conveniences. The property is also located next to the ski hill, great to get the first tracks on a powder day. The property has its own daily "Onsen" (Japanese Hot Spring / Bathing). The Onsen turned into a daily ritual to sooth the aches and pains from snowboarding. Food: The onsite chief offers the opportunity have an authentic and fresh meal each night. I had some of the best meals during my visit in Japan through at the property. Staff: Always polite and helpful. David supported the guests trips to the local resorts and transport. All in all, if you have the opportunity to visit, I would encourage you to book your holiday and see for yourself.

The staff is very kind. They solved my problem immediately when i had a transportation trouble to the ski school. I deeply appreciated their help.

The property is beautiful and well kept with a lovely open air onsen. The views are breathtaking! The breakfast buffet was over the top and the French restaurant was delicious! Complimentary afternoon snacks and drinks was an added bonus! The shuttle to and from the train station was a blessing and the staff was incredibly efficient and kind.

Sekiyama Onsen is a hot spring with a long history, and Yoshinoya Onsen Ryokan has been in operation for over 100 years. It embodies a truly traditional Japanese style—absolutely amazing! The onsen itself is fantastic. Moreover, the open-air onsens, Kawara no Yu and Koganeyu, located 2-3 kilometers from Yoshinoya Onsen Ryokan, were amazing hidden gems. They offered a fantastic experience and created wonderful memories for our family. The next-generation owner was incredibly kind. Thanks for guiding us to these amazing places—this wonderful memory will remain forever in our family’s hearts. Sekiyama Onsen Ski Resort is famous for its powder snow, and I look forward to skiing there again in January.

I loved the stuff, the accommodation was as I expected, Japanese style breakfasts are outstanding. Onsen as usually in Japan is excellent, and it was mentioned that the onsen consist some minerals useful for skin. Miwa is owner is very helpful and when she stopped us to the myokokogen train station for free because it was no available taxi!!

Loved the traditional room and the view. The staff was so very nice. The breakfast was wonderful and the evening music and bar were fun.

Awesome cultural experience, convient to some of the best powder skiing, onsen soak after day of skiing, all staff - from the kindest owner to her Japanese and seasonal team from Australia was so helpful... overall the best!

Just the perfect little spot for my husband and I. We didn’t have a car and were able to walk to the ski resort or take the bus every morning. Our hosts were above and beyond helpful and kind. Everything we needed with the most comfortable beds. Highly recommended!

This hotel is a hidden gem that's worth the detour up the road, even in winter. That being said, it can be challenging to get to in snow, which should be taken seriously if you're not comfortable driving on snowy roads in mountainous regions. The small town at the end of the road has a stream of hot spring water running down the road and is surrounded by steep mountains. The on-site onsen overlooks the mountains and is very beautiful. The staff are kind and very responsive as well.

The host of the property was very hospitable and made sure all of my needs were taken care of. He was so kind and helped me navigate travel during a snow storm.
