So far, Mercure is the best hotel we have ever stayed in Japan. They have perfect customer service thanks to their brand name. Since the 1st day I booked the hotel on Booking.com, their customer service already followed up to make sure my request is fulfilled (I requested extra bed for the children). They also supported me to arrange the shipment of our luggage back to Tokyo and helped us to fill out all the form and connected to our next hotel. Room is spacious, enough for the kids to play inside room. The bathroom is also amazing with bath tub and both hand held and rain shower heads and they are the only hotel provide the body lotion among 3 other hotels we stayed during our 8 days trip in Japan. Their breakfast is super delicious with variety of choices. The only small complaint if I ever had will be the hotel is a bit dark, but I guess it is their unique style :). So 10/10 and for sure I will be back one day.

Lovely hotel, in good location in Kyoto, walking distance to station, shops. We took the half board option and it was really worth it. ( breakfast and dinner) Children under 12 stay for free which meant we had to share the bed between the 3 of us which was ok, but we had two big single beds, so we had to sleep across to stop the bed separating in the middle. Wasn't a problem for 2 nights but it would have been a bit annoying it we stayed longer

Nice staff. The room was big, clean and comfortable. There's also an Onsen and a beautiful pool. Luggage storage easy to use. Nice lounge with a beautiful view.
