Nice view! Comfort and quiet environment
My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Tonomine Kanko Hotel. All of the staff were very nice, friendly, and welcoming. We asked the hotel to provide transportation to and from Sakurai Station, which was very helpful and convenient. The room was spacious and very authentic, and the view from the large windows was fantastic! We enjoyed the delicious food and the large onsen (public bath) that evening and again the following morning. Tanzan Shrine was literally right in front of the hotel, and we visited it early the next morning. My friend and I are college classmates, and we had traveled to Nara several times together back then. Being able to visit Tanzan Shrine together again after half a century was a very memorable and wonderful experience. We truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back again.
Extremely friendly, perfect for hiking, pretty quiet
It was a very comfortable Japanese style house in a quiet traditional town near a famous temple. It was the right size for our party, and we enjoyed being off the beaten track.
We spent a night at this accommodation and we really liked it! The apartment is located within a larger building with a beautiful inner garden. The kitchen is fully equipped and we prepared our own food there. The beds are very comfortable and the location is very quiet which makes for a great night sleep. The hosts are very kind and welcoming. We had a nice conversation and they are really friendly. We came by car and there is also a parking spot where you can leave your vehicle. Definitely 100% recommended!
Gorgeous property in a quiet residential area, but well located for visiting important historic areas, shrines etc. very kind and knowledgeable host who was willing to share great suggestions of things to see. The bed was very comfortable and property was very clean. I just wish I could’ve stayed longer
Is a great house and wish we had more than a one night stay. Very clean and comfortable in a quiet neighborhood. Great host with great communication. Sent a lot of ideas for restaurants and activities without being asked.
The guesthouse has bicycles you can use, but they are not rental quality.
Confortable room, bathroom and nice kitchen.
The staff were friendly and professional, they made our stay a pleasure.
Everything! Fabulous location and experience with an opportunity to get away from the city and enjoy Japan’s tranquility! The exceptional service, soy tour experience, and surroundings were fantastic! All details were attended to including, farm to table fine dining, refined finishes and comfort.
The kindness of the host. Very exceptional. Also the view of the Nara valley from the room was incredible. A quiet country vibe at foothill of mountains. Just Perfect for a restful stay in Nara.
Kotorian is a wonderful holiday destination. It was a pleasure meeting you meet Ogawa san and his wonderful wife who made our stay extremely comfortable and memorable. We felt connected with the rich heritage of this 130 year old home and also felt part of Ogawa san’s family. Overall, it was a dreamy stay. Also, The Koi pond and garden which have been designed by Ogawa san will win your heart the moment you step into the property.
We stayed here for 3 nights, as a base to Yoshino, Takami, Matabei and Uda region. We take leisurely walks along the lake lined with cherry blossoms, which is just at the door step of the hotel, every morning and evening without the crowd. We go next door for a good tonkatsu dinner, while watching the sunset, and pickup fruits and snacks from the supermarket. We had a pleasant stay here.
Huge old house in a little village up the hill but newly renovated with fully equipped function like staying at home. Host is really nice and warmed welcome even we arrived late. Breakfast is superb. All organic vegetables grown in village. All the dishes are home cooked. Homemade miso for soup is so delicious that we asked the host to buy some.
This apartment really takes me back... it's basically a repurposed 1R (one room) type of apartment, with a tiny kitchenette and a tiny unit bath, in a very old building with thin walls. Basically it's a place that would be typically rented by a poor college student or a young adult. In this case however it was turned into a hostel-like accommodation, and honestly it works well as such. The apartment had everything we needed, including the microwave, electric kettle and some dishes. The place was taken care of well. The futons even had an electric blanket, so we did not get cold during chilly nights.
