Totally amazing place to stay! Highly recommended. First of all, it is only 7 mins walk from the ancient city of pangyao. It is also so nearby the railway station. You can go by DIDI or bus, both are so convenient. Second, the decor of the place is AMAZING! I couldn’t help take pictures and video when i first came it. They even have a swing and glass-fish! The staff are so friendly and nice people. The Owner gave me water when i first came and when i left. Whenever i ask for anything she always helps. They have bar and food there with nice prices. I didn’t eat there but saw the food, it looked so delicious. The rooms were also amazing, it is two levels bed and mine was the one above. Surprisingly, it was so comfortable too. When i move it doesn’t vibrate into the bottom bed. The toilet is clean and they have shower gel, hair shampoo, small towel, and toothbrush with toothpaste ready for you to use. The air conditioner works fine and the wi-fi is connected from my room.

Breakfast can be chosen Chinese or Western—I tried both during my stay and each was fresh, well-presented, and generous (fresh juice and good coffee/tea included). Staff were proactive and friendly, arranged luggage pickup from the city gate, and communicated smoothly in English. The location is perfect for walking the lanes yet peaceful once inside the courtyard. Tips for Western travelers: cars can’t enter the old town, so message the hotel for pickup; wear comfortable shoes; and leave time to simply enjoy the courtyard—part heritage museum, part modern gallery. Our stay at this hotel was unforgettable. The property itself is a masterpiece—a beautifully restored 15th-century traditional Chinese building that looks spectacular both inside and out. The moment you step in, you feel the history: wood carvings, antique details, and a serene courtyard atmosphere. At the same time, the rooms feature superb high-tech interior design, combining heritage and modern luxury perfectly. Breakfast was delicious every morning, with fresh, flavorful dishes that were a real highlight of our stay. The hotel’s central location made it easy to explore the area on foot. We would also like to thank our wonderful hostess. She was funny, kind, and extremely helpful, always available to assist with anything we needed. Our driver was equally fantastic—professional, safe, and very knowledgeable about the area. He made transportation and sightseeing effortless. This hotel delivers heritage, beauty, comfort, and hospitality at the highest level. We would gladly stay here again.

The staff, especially the boss was really nice, he picked us up and introduced some spots in datong. Upgraded the room for us and it was very comfortable, spacious and beautiful.. Location was slightly further from there the activities are but adds on to the traditional vibes. The boss also offered to pick us up when we are done, but we chose to walk back after a good meal.

We travelled in a group of 3 pax and requested for an additional bed; we were very happy to see this already arranged by the time we checked in after a long flight and given an upgrade to the executive size. Room was clean, spacious and bedding comfortable with a Nespresso machine in the room. We also enjoyed the diverse spread at breakfast - with lots of local fare and a good balance of non- local to choose from. We also appreciated the amazing speed of the staff who responded to our requests with friendliness and alacrity - the concierge desk, the bellboys and the ladies at the breakfast counters were very helpful during our stay.
