Everything is super clean and tidy yet very cozy and it feels like home. The shower rooms are wonderful, the rooms are spacious, the kitchen has absolutely everything and all such good quality. We stayed two nights and visited the world heritage sites nearby. You can get to Ainokura walking 30/40 minutes. The others are reached by bus and the bus stop is right in front of the house. You have a supermarket 2 blocks away, two bakeries from Which I totally recommend the bread / doughnut with red bean paste and the cakes. We also had a wonderful dinner in one of the restaurants. The host was so kind and attentive to every detail. I totally fully recommend staying here. Wonderful experience!

Such an incredible place to stay - most people come to visit the Gassho villages on day trips but being able to do a homestay in the village itself was amazing and a truly unique experience. Our hosts were such a lovely couple, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and tell us about their lives and experiences in the village. Even though we don't know Japanese, our hosts managed to tell us about food, music and the way of life in the village. We're both vegetarian and they went out of their way to make us a delicious meal out of local produce.

Was only a few other people staying at the time I was there, so it was very quiet. And the bathhouse was a very relaxing and unique experience. Many amenities are surprisingly provided as well, and as soon as I checked in the gentleman provided me hot tea. Was very good value for the money... I just wish there was more to do in Takaoka, but there's some decent day trips you can take from there. Would without a doubt stay there again if I went to Takaoka.
