The location was absolutely perfect. The rooms were extremely large compared to many I’ve been in New York. They were very clean and had everything we needed and then some. The property had some very cool designs and an excellent staff.

Overall, I was satisfied with my stay, though I’m not entirely sure I’d choose this location again. The hotel is conveniently close to essential subway stops, making it easy to get around, and the area itself wasn’t bad. The renovations Marriott has done are noticeable, but unfortunately, the walls were quite thin. I could hear the children in the room next to mine watching cartoons late into the night, which made it hard to rest. Another drawback was the slow check-in and check-out process—there was only one receptionist on duty, which created a long line and wait. More staff at the front desk would improve efficiency. The bed was on the firmer side, not the most comfortable for me personally, though I recognize this is subjective. The gym was also much too small for a hotel of this size. On the brighter side, the rooftop amenities were a highlight, offering a great view. The only downside is that the pool (the only access point for the sunset view) closes before sunset, which feels like a missed opportunity. There’s no breakfast provided—just coffee in the mornings—which I think should be reconsidered. That said, the hotel was very clean, the staff was friendly, and overall it was a quality stay.

The hotel’s location was fantastic, surrounded by plenty of restaurants and cafés to choose from. The room was ideal for me and my 13-year-old son, spacious, with a king-size bed and a very comfortable sofa bed. Even when the sofa was pulled out, there was still plenty of room to move around, especially that we stayed there for a couple of weeks. The closet space was another pleasant surprise, which is nearly impossible to find in NYC! On top of that, the staff were warm and welcoming. I’ll definitely be staying here on every trip to New York.

The first room we were given was small, musty, and dark, with a poor view. But we went back to reception and they found a much better room for us. It was larger, bright, very comfortable and fresh. There was nothing wrong with this new room. So just be mindful that not all rooms are the same, just like every hotel. The staff were great, and so were the cocktails and food in the rooftop bar. The best thing about this hotel is the stunning view of the Empire State Building from the rooftop swimming pool 😍

I have stayed at the West Side YMCA many times over the last years, mainly because of its price and location (upper West Side, opposite Lincoln Center). The single rooms are very small with spartan furniture (a tiny single bed and wobbly desk, a few hangers for clothes, a shared bathroom and toilet, no sink) but singles with bathroom are also sometimes available at a higher cost. There is a gym with a swimming pool and a variety of exercise classes included in the prize.
