This was our choice to stay the night before we started the Camino and I couldn’t imagine a better place to start. Ana and Pedro welcome you into their home like family. Please don’t pass up the pilgrim dinner…Pedro is an excellent chef and spending time with the family and other pilgrims is priceless! This location does add about 4-5km to your pilgrimage from Valença but it is well worth the extra distance. We started out in the cold rain but and ended up spending most of our pilgrimage in the cold rain but I could always hear Ana’s encouraging words to just embrace whatever comes and we did! Vale de São Torcato Hotel Rural is situated in Guimarães, 4.3 km from the iconic Guimarães Castle. We loved our stay in this hotel. - Spacious and very spacious comfortable rooms and bathroom - Kitchen amenities fully equipped - Loved the swimming pool - Beautiful and calming surroundings - My children specifically loved the playground in front of the hotel where you can pick up the midget golf equipment at the reception and also using the hotel bikes - Good breakfast - Welcoming and very helpful personnel/reception - Parking in front of the door

Set in Viana do Castelo and facing Lima River, the AP Dona Aninhas is 2 minutes' walking from the city centre. I've really enjoyed the stay here. Excellent location and brilliant staff. Would stay again next time I am in Viana
