We enjoyed everything about our stay at Villa Vicuña Wine & Boutique Hotel. Our only regret, truly, is that we were only guests of Villa Vicuña for only a single night. Though it is unlikely we will return to Cafayate, there is no doubt that if circumstances do delivery us back into its embrace that we will look no further than Villa Vicuña for accommodation.

Everything was amazing. In fact, we decided to stay another night. The breakfast is amazing. Everything is well organized and comfortable. The staff is outstanding. Our bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was great. We had a wonderful view. I strongly recommend staying here.

    Amazing in every way! Our third stay, we absolutely love Estancia Colome & find our way back as often as we can. You feel like royalty staying at this incredible, well-heeled hacienda in the middle of nowhere with huge, high-ceilinged quarters overlooking unbelievable views across the vineyards & valley. First class dining overseen by Patricia, a classy, Michelin accomplished chef consultant. The pool in the vineyard with a feeling of zen soaking in the surroundings. The well-trained staff at the estancia & the bodega & museum. The wine!! Best of Argentina. Their Colome Torrontes is our house wine at home in our vineyard in Paso Robles, California. The fun is getting there on narrow dirt roads winding through wild & untamed wilderness, like an Indiana Jones ride. We forded small streams & spotted several foxes en route. This is an adventure you should not miss in your lifetime.

    Amazing property surrounded by a beautiful valley. This is an eco hotel which is extremely comfortable but is conscious of taking care of the planet. Would have loved to have stayed a few more nights. The team is amazing, Fernanda is extremely helpful. We left something at the property and she left it for us in Salta. Make sure to get the address for arrival from the property or you will go the long way.

    Cachi is a wonderful little town in a complete colonial style situated at 2500 meters altitude. This helps with the temperature, which is around 25 degrees while it’s 30+ in Cafayate. Around the large square with tall, shady trees, there are several restaurants. All Argentine towns have such a large square, green and with shady trees. The squares, which are always called 9th of July Square or another famous date, attract both tourists and locals, and especially in the evening, there is a rich social life with music and performances.     Lots of nature - treks , hikes , horse riding. Llamas , parakeets , caranchas , etc .We went for a drive on a dry river bed - looked straight out of a Hollywood movie setting . Local artisans into weaving , but only simple designs .

    Our visit to Cafayete was incredible.

    Our visit to Cafayete was incredible. The Domos del Viento were an experience in themselves with spectacular vistas, beautiful clear blue skies by days, sunsets over the mountain scapes, and brilliant starlit nights uncluttered by city lights. The Quilmes ruins are meticulously preserved and maintained, and the visitor centre displays function in Spanish, English and other languages. Various wineries have tastings, restaurants and accommodations up and down the valley (if you can’t get a reservation at the Domos). The food in local restaurants varies from simple to sophisticated but always featuring local cuisine and ingredients. The people are welcoming and helpful. And I suppose I should mention that the local Cafayete wines are excellent by the glass and even better by the bottle.

    We stayed 2 nights and it was just right.

    We stayed 2 nights and it was just right. I regret the museum was not open when we were there. A recent storm had knocked out the internet in the whole town and only one restaurant had it working. The main square is a charming oasis of green in the white-washed town that is clean and inviting.

    It's a cute little town with many interesting shops, museum, restaurants and wineries. It has the first wine ice cream boutique in the world. The main square and downtown are easily walkable, but to get to some of the better wineries and goat cheese factory etc you need transportation. Our hotel provided bicycles.

    Cachi was the jewel of the towns we visited during 3 weeks in Argentina. The hotel was clean, contemporary with local art work, friendly employees, and easy walking distance to the plaza. The view of the hotel courtyard and pool was beautiful with Cachi in the background. Cachi was very walkable and clean. We happened to be there the weekend of the yearly music festival. We were too tired to attend but could hear the folk music from our hotel room, which was fun. If this could be a problem for sleeping you might want to check the date of the January festival, but it added to the charm to see the musicians arriving in costumes and and hear people singing along. This is a BIG festival in a small, charming town.
