Second visit to the hotel. The rooms are a good size for what you pay for and clean. Small, functional kitchenettes allowing the option to have meals in, rather than having to go out every night. Supermarket about a 3 minutes walk away. No having to request your room being cleaned (which seems to be the current trend with US hotels) - they are cleaned every day. Staff are all really friendly. Shuttle to the slopes was really helpful and the shuttle drivers really nice.

It was Canada day, we were looking for a restaurant, hard to find. As I turned off the pavement toward a place where some cars were parked, my car bottomed out, bam! I didn't see that drop coming. The city should never have such a drop off of pavement in town! I was too upset to stop and take a picture of it. I drove a short way and made sure my oil pan wasn't leaking......

    We just stayed over night.

We just stayed over night. Not much to do from the walking distance. It is in the valley bottom, mountain trails and tops are not so close with easy access (or maybe we didn't look enough well for them). We wanted to be on higher altitudes, but Pemberton is certainly not yet that high and close to the sky.

Whistler is like the Italian alps crossed with Las Vegas.

Whistler is like the Italian alps crossed with Las Vegas. The stunning nature is made accessible but only by the sprawling, grey, characterless complex of buildings and theme park like pavements and amenities. I liked and appreciated both the tacky Americanism and natural beauty. Nowhere on earth have I experienced so many drunk Australians. Heaps of fun. Seems like a great place for kids.

It's a lot less touristy and frenetic than Whistler - so glad we stayed here and not there. Good variety of restaurants. And when the weather finally cleared the day we left we were able to get up the amazing Sea to Sky Gondola for fabulous views - it's jolly expensive and we only had time to do a couple of the short hikes - but still worth it. We also enjoyed driving out north and south to the various waterfalls and also discovering the Squamish Spit and Estuary - where we watched lots of otters frolicking.
