We arrived late, after the official check-in hours, but everything was fine thanks to automated check-in. The rooms were very nice, spacious and very clean. The location was outside of the center, but was great for our purposes and the views in the front and from the balcony were great. Overall, it was a great experience and when in the area, I would stay there again.

Perfect place for a visit to Erfurt! Excellent location, short walk to many landmarks, close to tram and old city. Cafés and restaurants literally in front of the accommodation. The bed was super comfortable and check-in was easy. Coffee, tea and toiletries were provided . Our luggage was stored from Check-out until afternoon so we could explore the city even more. Great place to stay - we can highly recommend it.

After having spent 1 night in another horror place, we found this beautiful hotel and stayed 1 night there. We arrived after lunch and were allowed to have lunch on the day of check-out. We could also stay in the wellness area as long as we wanted. We loved everything about this hotel: the clean and comfy rooms, the swimming pools, the food, and the amazing wellness. We managed to relax and totally switch off.

The Rittergut is an amazing manor house bringing together old and new in a beautiful way. The owners have done an incredible job to recreate the place and if you look at the photos of reconstruction you know how much love they've put into the whole estate. The breakfast was great too ... no problem getting gluten-free food and some of the jams were self-made. I would certainly recommend staying there.

Very nice Hotel in the heart of "altstadt" Erfurt. Walk distance to atractions, restaurants, shopping center and bars. Nice parking basement unde the Hotel, with EV charging spots. Fantastic breakfast, here is plenty too choose from, never seen anything as good as this. Very Quiet plase, but stil in center of Erfurt. Nice yard with lounge sets, where you can relax.

Wonderful sights, and the S-Bahn is so easy to use and get around town. I went to the Turingen Zoo, which is located in Erfurt. It was nice, but could use a bit of a facelift. I bought a week ticket on the S-Bahn, and it was well worth it - at around 25 Euro for unlimited use throughout the week. I took a day trip to Weimar. The Duchess Anna Amalia Library and the Goethe and Schiller House and Gardens were fantastic, as was the Bauhaus Museum. Easy trip for about 25 Euro round trip.

It is a place to get to know J.W.v.Goethe and the time he lived in, especially in his residence, the attached museum and the Garden House which is located in the beautiful park along the river Ilm. The Bee Museum is worth to visit. Here you also can eat an deliciously prepared meal and home made cakes and ice cream.

Our daughter lives in Jena with her young family.

Our daughter lives in Jena with her young family. This unit is not as convenient to her as others we have used but was one of the biggest and had a full common kitchen to use. We have not seen too much of Jena except the old city and the Bergau Park Mall. Both are nice and different than in the States. Would like to see the Planetarium or go to the top of the Jen tower. We found the bedroom cold in December when we arrived and the common areas cold all the time. There is a large common-use dining table but it is so cold in the area you wouldn't want to sit out there. Nice quiet area but very limited, unreserved parking. We had to park about 5 blocks away and walk back. There is a very complete grocery store called Netto just across the street that had fresh baked croissants in the morning. That was great!

If you love winter sports, in particular biathlon then...

If you love winter sports, in particular biathlon then Oberhof is the place for you. Also it's ideal for hiking and cycling especially along the Rennsteig. Ideally is best to have a car. The location of the Obere Schweizerhütte was right next to the bobsleigh, luge and skeleton runs. The cable car to the top was amazing and once at the top you're at the biathlon stadium. You xan also have a shooting experience.

Great little town to stop over when travelling across Europe. The castle is beautiful. Loads of walking opportunities. Nature is close by. Lovely pub, lovely coffee place, great kebab :) All you want from a quick pit stop.

I remained in Old Town since I was researching my grandfather's story and needed access to archives, the library, Palace and other historical locations and resources. There is so much rich history here and many of the buildings have plaques on them with historical details about the building. There was a decent variety and number of restaurants to choose from in Old Town, it felt very safe and people were very friendly.

Beautiful city to visit if you enjoy long walks in nature (just be prepared for the wind 😁). With breathtaking landscapes and a beautiful city center, it is also extremely easy to travel to nearby cities and enjoy the wonders that the Thuringia region has to offer.

Located in a valley, the city offers beautiful views to the surrounding mountains and is a good starting point to explore them. It is worth it to climb the Domberg, which overshadows the city until the Ottilienchapel, which offers a nice view over the city or even to the top that has a tower with a panoramic view of South Thuringia. The city itself is rather quiet and mostly elder people are to see. The downtown has some decent restaurant options, like the Greek restaurant Delphi or the fish restaurant "Gastmahl des Meeres". Via the nearby highway it is easy to explore nearby attractions.

Some great medieval history and a nice little town. Ideal for staying in the region and a simple train/bus ride to Buchenwald and Weimar. The markets were good and we had some excellent meals too. The best coffee in Erfurt is at Epitome Cafe in Fish Market Platz .. by far the best coffee in Erfurt.

Weimar remains in many ways the cultural centre of Germany.

Weimar remains in many ways the cultural centre of Germany. It was the home of the literary giants Goethe and Schiller, and Johann Sebastian Bach and Richard Wagner also based themselves there for a while. The architecture of the old city is delightful but Weimar is also where the modernist Bauhaus movement began in the early 20th Century. The relatively new Bauhaus Museum is a must for anyone interested in the beginnings of modern design and arhitecture. In short, there is something for everyone in Weimar, not least its fine range of shops, boutiques and restaurants. English is widely spoken.
