The breakfast was amazing and varied. The receptionist was super nice and kind, and we were able to wait for our train for an hour in the lobby. Since the city is quite small, it is good to be located next to the train station if you are travelling that way. Overall, we are looking forward to visit Strasbourg again, and to stay at the same hotel.

Great place to stay I Strasbourg. I checked in when it was already dark outside, so I used taxi to get in. However, in the morning I was able to walk to the closes public transportation stop. I liked the building, the room and the wellness.

The location is great in the middle of a winery in an ancient village near all the tourist attractions. The staff was helpful, for any questions that we had. The breakfast is with French specialties, but also a lot of continental options. Near the hotel is a very nice restaurant with Alsatian specialties. The rooms are big, we were a family with a child, we choose a suite with 2 rooms which was very spacious and very nice decorated. The hotel is new, with carpet in the rooms and halls, I really liked the cosines that the carpet is offering to the rooms.

FAQs about hotels in Alsace

A Mouthful of History, Architecture and Food

One of the most important regions in the European Union because of its number of international organisations, Alsace is also the smallest region in mainland France. Stretched along the upper Rhine, this is an area of tumultuous history, great architecture and distinctive cuisine.

The Alsace capital, Strasbourg, features one of the most beautiful European cathedrals and a very photogenic Old Town with cobbled streets and half-timbered townhouses. You can find picturesque castles, villages and churches all around this petite region.

But Alsace is not just known for its man-made structures. It also boasts the low, densely forested Vosges Mountains with glacial lakes, great hiking trails and charming waterfalls. Not to mention its vineyards and the famous Alsatian Vineyard Route, stretching from Wissembourg to Thann and incorporating 67 towns and villages.

A visit to the region wouldn’t be complete without trying some of the famous Alsatian cuisine. Said to be the birthplace of sauerkraut, this is one of the best places to try tarte flambée, a delicious creation of onion, bacon and crème fraiche.

Whether you opt for one of the hotels de charme in Alsace, a stylish apartment or a friendly B&B, Booking.com has a great range on offer 24/7!

I've now visited in both summer and winter, I would say that summer is when the city is most beautiful. In the winter the Christmas markets are the main attraction, they are huge and very nicely presented. We spent a full weekend at the markets and shops in the city, there are a lot of great shops for clothing and homewares. It is not my favourite city in France, it is small and doesn't have the natural beauty that others do. It can feel a little run down in some places, but overall the medieval buildings give it charm. I have been able to get there by train all the way from London both times very comfortably, French trains are superb! I would recommend visiting Europa Park theme park as a day-trip, it is fantastic and my main reason for visiting Strasbourg in the first place.

Colmar is quite an interesting town.

Colmar is quite an interesting town. However, be aware that due to the large influx of people coming to Colmar for the Christmas festival in December, a major part of the city shuts down in January. Half or more of all restaurants, shops, and museums are closed for the entire month of January, a fact I did not know when I booked my trip. However, with that said, we managed to find plenty to do, and found some really excellent restaurants that were still open. But, if you are looking for a lively scene, January is not the month to visit. Much enjoyed O'Rabbits Irish Pub, one of the few restaurants that was open during our stay.

Breakfast was fantastic and all staff very kind and helpful. The room was disappointing. I’ve stayed here several times and it’s gradually gone downhill. This time there were no coat hangers and only one towel per person. The location is good and the covered parking a bonus- especially in winter but rooms really need a makeover.

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay, especially for the price. The rooms were nice, clean, and spacious enough, with the added convenience of parking and being super close to the tram. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Even though we expected to share a bathroom, we were happy to find a shower in the room, only the toilets were shared.

A lovely city for a short break. Our hotel was great right in the heart of the old city. Easy to get around, good shops, plenty to do. The food was excellent and the local people were all very helpful and friendly. Perhaps not the liveliest place but for a refreshing Christmas/New Year’ break it was atmospheric and charming. We loved the museum of modern art, walking around Petite France, and along the river
