We’ve never stayed at a hotel and felt so eager to return. We were treated like family and had a truly enjoyable stay. Our room was spotless, quiet, and provided a beautiful view of the river. The breakfast was outstanding—full of variety and perfectly prepared. The best we’d had our entire journey! The hosts went above and beyond, and nothing was too much trouble.     We stayed in the Grand Hotel de l’Opera which right by the Place du Capitole, great location for exploring the city by foot. Lovely pedestrian square with numerous restaurants and bars, would highly recommend La Bibent for dinner.

    The hotel is set off a road and once you enter, it is quiet...

    The hotel is set off a road and once you enter, it is quiet and tranquil. The staff are very discreet and the service is excellent. We had room 16 which had a private balcony overlooking the river Tarn. The room was large, very comfortable and the view was beautiful. The Air Conditioning was weak but we opened the door and the balcony and the through draft cooled the room in the evenings. As we were having a heat wave, the cool breeze in the evenings lasting through to the morning was delightful. The meals are delicious and the service again is excellent. Breakfast is equally good with excellent coffee. It should be noted that we have an electric car and the staff went out of the way to ensure we could charge it.

    Montauban is a very attractive town with its own character and atmosphere. It is easy to walk around. The Ingres/Bourdelle Museum is superb - especially the room with the Ingres drawings. A lovely place for a stay.

    This was our third visit to Millau and we will return to the area in future. There is a lot to see and do and some very good, reasonably priced, restaurants. We enjoyed walking along the well kept river bank, visiting the museum and the Cité de Pierres.

    Cable car trip up to Super Bagneres then lunch at the Chapel restaurant was excellent. Then we enjoyed the two hour sessions during the afternoon in the Spar. Luchon itself seemed surprising quiet in what is presumably its summer season.

    Tarbes is a wonderful small city, with many nice hotels, just not the one we stayed in. Brasserie des Halles does a brilliant lunch. L’Arsenal has many lively bars and activities. The city has much culture and is reknowned fir its sport including rugby and especially fencing at Amicale Tarbes Escrime. Close to Lourdes, the Pyrenees and with easy access via Tarbes airport.
