The staff make this Inn . Tommy the manager took such good care of us and if we were to go back and stay it would be because of the staff .
The bar is cozy and has amazing views in the summer or winter .
The restaurant is one of the best we have ever eaten in . They have an amazing chef and a very affordable menu . The continental breakfast was ample and set us up for the day . It was served in the restaurant again with a amazing views . Book in advance for dinner as it’s always busy regardless if it’s midweek or weekend .
It’s a great base for walking and a short distance from the lovely Bowness-On-Windermere and Ambleside .

Nice location, our room was large and the hideaway was a perfect spot of a mini get away. Enjoyed the breakfast each morning with the lake view. Staff was really lovely. Appreciated their green policy and took advantage of not taking housekeeping for a drink.
Having parking onsite was a nice surprise although the parking spaces are tight but that’s understandable.
Beautiful hydrangeas on the walk path up to the lakehouse.

We stayed in the Seductive Suite, it was a beautiful room with the decor, lots of space, beautiful bathroom, we loved the mood lighting and the bed was so comfy. We loved the special touches like the vanity area and the under floor heating and the tv on the wall in the bathroom. It was the best hotel that we have ever stayed in and it was my boyfriend’s birthday as well. We will definitely be coming back.

The property is at great location. The staff is ❤️❤️. Everyone was so welcoming. Chef is so nice. We tried onion rings, cauliflower vegan curry with rice and pizza. Breakfast was so satisfying. Highlight of our trip was CAS helped us to kindly find a cab on Boxing Day when we were struggling to find transportation and we reached home safely.

This is a genuinely gem in the lake district. The grounds are very nice. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The restaurants are even better than advertised :-). the staff is very helpful and accommodating, providing a very personal and homey experience.

The rooms are beautiful with views over the lake . We have been before and really enjoyed our stay . The staff are very respectful and they seem to enjoy their jobs and always ready to help if you need anything and done with a smile .

Wonderful location and friendly staff. We walked the way down to Ambleside and picked berries and met deer and cows. A quiet place almost directly on the lake. We had a room in a smaller house and enjoyed it very much.

Bowness was very nice, there is a wide variety of shops & restaurants, we went to the Hylton Steakhouse & the Albert Pub & the food was really good, although a little expensive imo. We also went to the Aquarium which at £23 for 2 adults & a child of 14 was ok, but it really needs some TLC as it was really looking a bit tired & in places a bit dirty so I wouldn’t really recommend this to anyone

Nice little town with some good eating places. Take a trip along the road to Barrow as there is even more to do and you can access the lake area. Best to go early as parking can be full in most areas. If you want somewhere great to stay then look up Beaumont boutique hotel in Holly road as you wont be disappointed.

we have stayed before and really enjoyed walking around the centre and the lake and parks that are there.
but this time we could not do much as the weather was really bad due to the storm high winds and rain.
would go back early to late summer.

The location, the room was lovely, the seating areas in the hotel especially the conservatory. The Spa was wonderful and the treatment was fabulous. The staff in the Spa were so lovely - I really enjoyed the experience. We ate in the Brassiere but I would not recommend it. My sister and I ended up swapping starters and my sister didn't like her burger. The staff asked her if she wanted something else but she didn't. I got Eton Mess as a dessert and it was a mess. 3 tinned strawberries and this vile pink wafer which I think was meringue a plate of cream with chocolate drizzled on it - vile. We had breakfast next day my sister ordered a poached egg but she said it was cold. We then did an afternoon tea the scones were great and the sausage roll was lovely but there were some weird flavoured sandwiches and cakes. We booked to do an escape room on the Sunday but unfortunately there was a power cut after the storm. The only place open was the Aquarium which I love anyway so we went there. As we came out that also lost power and shut. We went into Ulverston and had a fabulous Sunday roast at the Rose and Crown - I highly recommend it.

It was a great place to base a holiday around the lakes, it's quiet and away from the tourist centers but within easy reach of all the tourist attractions, just be prepared for the narrow and twisty roads.

The lake district is stunningly beautiful and the people are so kind and friendly so much to see and do for old and young couples or family's we loved the clean air and outdoors but there is so much to explore if its rainy too would highly recommend the farm shops for eating and shopping wonderful grassmere gingerbread shop and the tiny church definitely drive the honister pass so exciting and stunning a boat trip on windermere is a must the beautiful towns and villages with their stunning shops and twinkly lights are so cute and quirky will definitely recommend and return

Good walks to Wray Castle and Claife Viewing Station...
Good walks to Wray Castle and Claife Viewing Station overlooking Windermere. Unfortunately Wray Castle was shut for renovation during our visit (Nov 2025)m but the cafe here was open for business and doing a roaring trade.
Location is handy for Hill Top (Beatrix Potter) and Hawkshead where there are ample places to eat.

Excellent location for the frequent Lakeland buses which meant we could bus to one place, walk over the hills or catch a boat, and catch a different bus back. No parking worries.

Easy walking area from the hamlet and access to more challenging walking not far away. Away from the tourist traps of the Lake District.
Would recommend eating at The Hare and Hounds for upmarket gastro pub food. The Masons Arms also serves good pub food. The Punchbowl at Crosthwaite is a 10 min drive away and is a very good restaurant

Very welcoming host.
Very welcoming host. Superb breakfast and excellent mixed platter served in the evening in comfortable lounge/bar area chatting to host and other residents. Ideally situated to explore both North and south of lake Windermere. All in all a superb cosy and attractive accommodation. Thankyou.
