We love Agia Pelagia and stay here each time we come to Kythera. There are loads of restaurants to eat at, we can swim here and it is the perfect place to base yourself as you will need to drive around Kythera to visit the sights/beaches/towns. It is my 4th time visiting and we’ll be back to stay at Romantica.Guest review byCharlesAustralia - 10.0
Great little island in the south of the Peloponnese...
Great little island in the south of the Peloponnese peninsula, reachable by ferry from the mainland, or by plane from Athens. Nice beaches, great inland landscape for walking, trekking or biking. Road system needs a serious upgrading, but people are nice and welcoming, and the food is excellent. Many Athenians and foreigners buy old houses and convert them into apartments for rent so the little hospitality infrastructure currently available will be soon getting bigger and hopefully better. Great places to visit Mylopotamos, a village famous for its water mills, just a couple left still to see, or Avlemonas for the little, almost magical cove, for easy swimming. One also has to visit the Chora with the Castle ( Kastro) of the island but this also is in dire need for renovation as at this moment is almost dangerous for visitors in parts. Food is great and many places offer fresh fish along with local meat, making it a easy choice for both fish and meat lovers. Nice honey (almost famously known) that one can buy and take back home to remind them of this beautiful island.Guest review byLeagreeceGreece - 10.0
We were glad to have 5 days to sink into Kythera.
We were glad to have 5 days to sink into Kythera. You need a car to really experience this amazing island. There is only one restaurant and one cafe in Dhiakofti, but they are both enjoyable places to eat. No night life, no souvenir stores, no shopping. A quiet, family-friendly beach town.Guest review byKatherineUnited States - 10.0

a small island village with restaurants providing excellent food, relaxing local cafe shops, a travel agency, a physio centre (a must try, Anastasis rocks as a therapist), bank, gasoline station, bakeries and even car garage.Guest review bySteliosGreece - 10.0

The perfect beach side holiday for those wanting to avoid hordes of tourists. Lots of options for eating out and all within easy walking distance. Plenty of nice beaches and a friendly, relaxing vibe everywhere we went. So many other attractions on the island that it's worth hiring a car - easy drive from Pelagia to Potamos, Kapsali and other beautiful locations on the island.Guest review byTrippAustralia - 10.0

Kythira is a place not yet overcrowded with tourists, a place with wonderful beaches but rough highlands too. You will find hidden churches, nice restaurants and: friendly people everywhere. And if you are searching for flowers or birds it is the right place too.Guest review byHeidemarieGermany - 6.0
It's a very quiet, sleepy village.
It's a very quiet, sleepy village. There is only one taverna, with so-so food, but with tables on the beach, so that can be nice. It's a great place for kids and families. But for good coffee, bars, restaurants, good beaches, you need to drive somewhere else, like Avlemonas. There is nothing in Diakofti.Guest review byIoanaRomania - 10.0

We fell in love with the island and could have stayed much longer. So much natural beauty, wonderful beaches, charming villages, great tavernas. We did a lot of swimming in the sea, so many beaches to choose from (we liked Loukidimis Paleopolis and Fourni especially). Swimming in the grotto at Avelamos was another highlight. Also enjoyed just driving through the countryside and stoping in town squares along the way to eat and explore shops. Mylopotomas was our favorite village, eat at the taverna in the center of town. Enchanting. The view from the castle in Chora is spectacular. We appreciated that the island was not over run by tourists. Our accommodations at Castri Village were so comfortable and the hosts were very kind and helpful. It was so easy to walk down to the village and enjoy. We ate every night on the beach in Agia Pelagia. Amazing ambiance, food and hospitality.Guest review byKristenUnited States - 8.0
From October to March this little hamlet rather than village...
From October to March this little hamlet rather than village shuts down; no bars or restaurants are open. The little shop or mini market is open randomly. If you are coming here in the off season, have a car so you can get to the next town or if you don’t bring water, milk, alcohol or food so you’re all set. During the summer I’m sure it’s a paradise; we just went on last regular ferry of the year. It’s quiet, beautiful at night and has gorgeous clear water. If you wanna go somewhere and just chill, I recommend.Guest review byDaraIreland
