Kalamata is an absolutely beautiful city that truly offers the best of both worlds — stunning beaches and a vibrant city atmosphere. One of the highlights for me was the beachfront restaurants that offer sun loungers, allowing you to enjoy delicious food and drinks right by the sea. It's the perfect spot to relax and take in the view. The old town is a gem — full of character, with traditional architecture and a genuine sense of authentic Greece. It hasn’t lost its local charm, which makes strolling through its streets feel like stepping back in time. Kalamata strikes a wonderful balance between relaxation and culture. I can’t wait to return!Guest review byDoraAustralia - 8.0

Lovely town square lined with cafes and shops with the harbour on one side. Hilly and gorgeous views of the islands surrounding the large harbour. Buses to Kalamata but none to any of the big beaches, none to Nestor’s Palace either so I would reconsider coming here if you don’t have a car.Guest review byVivianAustralia - 10.0
Stoupa is beautiful and has a nice sandy beach.
Stoupa is beautiful and has a nice sandy beach. Unfortunately the sunbeds are very close together, making it feel quite crowded. There are some other beautiful beaches not too far away, but they are all pebble beaches so you really need beach shoes to walk on them! The waters are crystal clear, great for swimming and snorkelling. You can rent a peddalo with a slide....great fun! or a kayak or even a little speedboat to explore the coast. Best to have a car to get around as the busses are far and few between. A good selection of restaurants to choose from and there are some nice little shops along the sea front. We will definitely return.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Kardamyli is a beautiful village that has dramatic natural surroundings, interesting history, friendly shops and restaurants. It is very walkable, but within a couple of hours you can drive to interesting places like Sparti and Mystri, access little mountain villages with gorgeous small old churches decorated with frescoes, stop and have tea or coffee in roadside cafes. There's plenty of music and good food, and the beaches are fairly quiet. If you like a livelier scene, Stoupa is a short drive away.Guest review bybeckyUnited States - 10.0
Small amazing and picturesque town (or maybe a village).
Small amazing and picturesque town (or maybe a village). It was the first time I visited and I will definitely come back! It has some of the cleanest and beautiful beaches I have seen - especially if you are travelling with your kids like I did). Lambes or Lampes beach specifically, is covered in sand inside and outside and the water is super clean and shallow. Foinikounta is basically a type of a "high street" with all shops and restaurants that extend on the parallel road right below that lands on the beach in which you can taste amazing foods, have your drink or coffee and have some relaxing time in front of the sea. I loved it and I had some amazing time there. Definitely recommend!Guest review byAlexanderGreece - 8.0

The local Taverna along Artaki bay has excellent traditional food and the best view of the bay and Koroni. We loved to walk through the little streets and steps going up to the castle and monastry with lovely views over Koroni and Zaga beach the other side that you can walk to.Guest review byJenniferUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Nice town, beaches in close proximity, old Town 5' from the center with amazing view, ancient places around. Also, famous places in less than an hour drive (Voidokoilia Beach, Costa Navarino hotels, Foinikounta, Pylos, etc.). Farming products (one of the world's best olive oil), nice food and relaxing holidays.Guest review byGeorgiosGreece - 10.0
We really enjoyed Methoni.
We really enjoyed Methoni. Wandering around the historic town, exploring the castle, walking the surrounding countryside and ending up at Surreal for coffee or Thalassa for a meal. Our holiday was pure relaxation. If you want to explore further a car is probably necessary as the bus service is minimal.Guest review byDeborahUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A traditional small town, friendly community with small shops suitable for a relaxed break away. The Namaste Beach Bar was a real find and we spent most days there - the food was great and the staff were friendly. Several restaurants and coffee/bar places to chill out, eat, drink and relax. The best food we ate was along at the end of the town, a modern looking raised restaurant over looking the bay. The staff in the little supermarket in the main square were very helpful and friendly.Guest review byWendyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I was after a bit of down-time out after a long cycle with several friends, so the quiet little rural seaside town suited me. The harbour is being structurally rebuilt so I couldn't get a boat out to Proti island which was a disappointment. There are a few good beaches along the generally rugged coastline and some lovely restaurants in town. The agricultural nature of area means that it is not consistently pristine and there is a fair amount of farmers' litter evident. It would be ideal to have had a car for more exploring.Guest review byWheresmybike?South Africa
