A lovely comfortable room with a stunning view from the window of this gorgeous inn. Out of the mayhem of this beautiful village, we enjoyed our walk to dinner in this unique mountain village. Though easy drive and park of an evening once the tourists have left for the day. Wonderful friendly staff and generous breakfast choices added to a great stay. Highly recommend!

While we did visit the nearby beaches, we were there in a holiday weekend and parking for miles around was just about impossible. So we made great use of the lovely pool. A particular joy was that any music was pleasant and not too loud, unlike the pool area in many Greek hotels, which favour booming hiphop.

Volos is a great, vibrant city. You can go around on foot.

Volos is a great, vibrant city. You can go around on foot. Don't miss a morning coffee at the port or the buzzing streets around Agios Nikolaos church. Great options everywhere for Greek pastries, coffee, and local delicacies. Volos is famous for "tsipouradika," local eateries that serve tsipouro with "meze". Meze is a small dish of Greek seafood, cheese, or vegetables. Very short distance by car, you can enjoy Pelion mountain as well, with lush forest and small, stone-built villages.

Very beautiful traditional Greek mountain village with small shops (local products) and few restaurants. Difficult to find parking in the center of the village, one public parking but it's very small. Easy to make road trips around Pelion area - go around if you have a car, this is one of the most beautiful regions in Greece (also in summer, not only winter). Some part of the roads (in Pelion area, not in Portaria) were destroyed in winter 2024 during storms. Unfortunately, they were still destroyed in July 2024. You can go around by car, roads are not closed, but needs a bit attention in many places and wouldn't recommend to drive at night (dark). Time from Portaria to beach (Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero) took from us abt 40 min so take your time. To Village "Kala Nera" (nice beach, long with plenty of place in July) a bit less.

Tsagarada is a charming village, renowned for its extraordinary natural beauty and unique setting. Settled in the heart of a chestnut forest, it attracts many visitors during the summertime who come to enjoy its peaceful atmosphere, breathtaking views and offering of an excellent traditional cuisine deeply rooted in the Pelion region’s rich culinary heritage. Founded in 1500, Tsagarada is composed of four picturesque settlements, each centered around beautifully restored old churches: Taxiarches, Agia Paraskevi, Agia Kyriaki, and Agios Stephanos. These churches are notable for their exquisite wooden carved iconostases. Tsagarada offers a perfect blend of nature, history, and tradition, making it a truly unforgettable destination.

The village may look small, but it has everything you need – supermarkets, souvenir shops, cozy restaurants and cafés, a bakery, a children’s playground, and a newly renovated church. From here, you can enjoy a walk along the promenade to Kato Gatzea or Koropi. A short 10-minute drive takes you up into the mountains to the beautiful villages of Vizitsa and Milies. In the other direction, you can visit the Voliotis family olive mill or head to Ano Lechonia to catch the little train for a picturesque ride through the mountains.

Zagora is famous for its apples, and agriculture is the main occupation for the majority of inhabitants; anyway, it is rich in historic churches too. There are some very good restaurants and Chorefto is a long beach at the crystal waters of the Aegean sea (though we must admit that the sea is frequently too rough).

Agios Lavredios is a charming village with a plethora of dining and beverage options. The view is great, enhanced by the absence of cars in the village center. The trees in the central square offer ample shade, creating a perfect setting for leisurely and tranquil summer moments.

Small village who keeps the traditional architecture .

Small village who keeps the traditional architecture . All new houses are builded with same structure. Has downtown and hill position. There is inly one market and one mini market, and one souvenir shop. But there are many restaurant and caffe shops, so you can enjoy in greek food. The bigest problem in Affissos is parking , and very rare any accommodation to have parking place. All the cars are parked even on the street ( and the street is very narrow) even on the beach waht is immediately after the vilage. Access to the sea from my accommodation was just 50 m. You can swim there if you want, but if you want to go on beach than you should walk for not more than 10 min, about 300-400 m to the Abovos beach.near by there are two more beach, but on the others the problem is parking. On Abovos you have enough parking all day. The water is warm and calm all day.

Nice small seaside city.

Nice small seaside city. The city center is full of pedestrian streets with shops, cafés, and restaurants. The port area is perfect for a relaxing stroll, with many spots to sit and enjoy the view. Volos is also an excellent base for short trips to the picturesque villages of Pelion and the nearby beaches on both sides of the mountain. Food-wise, the tsipouro culture is widespread throughout the city: each time you order a glass of tsipouro, it is typically accompanied by a different selection of small plates (meze), making it a unique and enjoyable dining experience.
