For most people, staying in the Korenica area is about visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park. Understandable, but do allow yourself some extra time and you won't be sorry. This beautiful landcape and friendly little village deserve more than hurried tourists on their way to & from the park. If possible, avoid the high season, when it's warm and crowded. This is not a place to shuffle around in thick crowds and the park does not appeal as it should when viewed from a belly-to-back parade. Spring or autumn are the best times to go here; relatively few tourists, nice climate and nature at it's best! Or escape onto the many hiking trails in the area and with careful planning you may even touch parts of the lake trail (with no boots to pay your entrance fee? ;-)
Such a beautiful area in the mountains! Loved the river and waterfalls. Plitvice Lakes National Park is only 10 minutes away. Poljanak itself seems to just be a small collection of houses around the river, but there are also a couple markets and restaurants to get what you need.
Jezerce is the town on the edge of Plitvice Lakes National Park. It has 2-3 hotels, and several dozen B&B's to accommodate tourists. The park is extraordinarily beautiful, and the facilities are well designed to accommodate the flow of tourists. It's well worth a place on your itinerary through Croatia!
Rastovaca is the only village closer to Plitvice Lakes National Park. But there is only one restaurant nearby the entrance and the Plitvice Entrance 1. The village is very small about 90 populations. As far as I can tell, almost every single house there is doing B & B business. There s not much you can do in Rastovaca but for your stay and getting into Plitvice Lakes easily.
We spent a day at Plitvice Lakes National Park, which was the main reason we chose Croatia for a week-long vacation. I had high expectations of the park and it exceeded them in every way. The lakes and waterfalls are amazing in their own right, but what is even more amazing are the walkways that have been constructed so that you get the best possible view of all the natural wonders there. I am a true waterfall buff and I think these are my favorite waterfalls anywhere. I even like them better than Niagara Falls because I like high wispy falls better than high water volume falls (but I do love those too). We arrived at Entrance 2, took the bus to Entrance 1 where we entered the park. We then walked all around the lower section, the most beautiful with the largest waterfalls, and then took a boat across the lake. We then hiked on the high side of the mountains, because the lower path was flooded, to the end of the park where we could get a bus back to Entrance 2. We covered 5 miles (8 km) and spent about 4-5 hours in the park taking our time. I was wearing walking sandals, which held up well, but next time I'll take my hiking boots. The upper trails are serious hiking trails with beautiful tall trees.
One of the most paradise like localities in the world, a trip to the Plitvice Lakes National Park is a must for anyone traveling across the region. Although it's possible to see the entire park in one day using shortcuts by ferry if you stay in one of the nearby villages, a 2 day trip is recommendable if you're traveling through the area by long distance coach or travel by bus from Zadar, Split etc. If you're looking for a place to stay, Guesthouse Bor is highly recommendable if you're looking for hotel-grade room comfort. In the park itself there are few locations to buy drinks or food, so make sure to bring a lunch and sufficient water into the park. You'll be climbing a lot, so 2 liters per person per day is a minimum in summer. Good walking shoes are a must.
Nice little town, close to the Plitvice lakes national park, which was mainly the purpose of our stay. Beautiful mountain surroundings, possibility to buy groceries.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a great place if you would like to enjoy nature and work out a bit. You can choose different ways to visit park, by 1-2 hr, 3-4 hr, 5-6 hrs tours. The entry ticket includes also bus and boat. Only there is almost no place to have drinks or meals inside in the park.
Easy to spend a full day on the Plitvice lakes national park x the 6-8 hr walk took us 5.5 hours. Wish we had a second day to see the surrounding area
This place was just a short walk to Entrance 1 and the guesthouse next door offered full course dinners with local foods and prepared in a brick oven - convenient and good too - so much more personal than a restaurant! A nice respite from the crowds at Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Plitvica Selo
To say that Duson, the proprietor, and his brother Bojan, went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay here a great experience is an understatement. The facilities are simple, but very clean and well-maintained. The small village of Plitvica Selo, where the property is located, on the edge of Plitvice Lakes National Park, is beautiful. The bridge into town was closed for the day (the whole week, actually) that we were scheduled to stay and Duson and Bojan figured out the logistics of how to get us (and our luggage) across.
Prijeboj
Tesla's Guest House is located perfectly on a small hill right the border of Plitvice Lakes National Park. Višnja and Davorin were the most amazing hosts and did everything to make us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The food and wine we were served for dinner was amazing. We loved chatting to their family before our departure and getting many tips for the remainder of our trip through Croatia. We would definitely like to come back in the future.
Korenica
The property is ideally located for an overnight stay and visit to Plitvice Lakes National Park early next morning. The rooms are comfortable with basic amenities. The bathroom was very clean. We arrived very late in the night but the hotel management was kind enough to have one staff waiting for us till we reached. The outdoor area is really nice with hammocks and benches to laze around. Bikes are available on rent too. Wish we had stayed longer!
Plitvica Selo
Located only meters from entrance 3 to Plitvice Lakes National Park, this is an ideal location. Since the property is on a hill, you also have a nice overlook of the largest lake from many of the rooms. Apparently the park no longer (as of 8 Sep 2019) sells entrance tickets at gate 3. However, the hotel will pick up tickets for you at one of the other gates and deliver them to you at breakfast at no additional charge. That’s great service!
Rakovica
I do recommend staying at Countryside Apartment. The unit was spacious, well-equipped and clean. It was easy to find and, moreover, close to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Jure was very communicative and helpful and the check-in and check-out process went smoothly. The unit was close to markets and part of a family compound so I did not feel isolated but rather really enjoyed the uncrowded feeling of being in the country.
Plitvička Jezera
My husband and I stayed here for one night before going to Plitvice Lakes National Park early the next morning. We had a rental car so the location was perfect and the included breakfast in the morning was delicious. It was my vegan-husband's favorite meal the entire trip. Very vegan and vegetarian friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Just what we needed for our first night in Croatia!
Seliste Dreznicko
We had such a pleasant and comfortable stay at this very clean, comfortable, and modern hotel. They had parking on site which was convenient for our rental car, the room was huge and spacious, and had everything we need for a cozy stay. Wifi was fast, bed was comfortable, and the it was spotless clean. We truly recommend this place if you plan on staying near Plitvice Lakes National Park.

We did not spend as much time as I would have liked here because we were delayed at getting in. In fact, we got in at almost 2am. However, the host was incredibly gracious in waiting up for us and turning over the key to us. The apartment was quite large and the beds were comfortable. We left at 8am since we had timed tickets at Plitvice Lakes National Park. The owner was wonderful.
Plitvička Jezera
Apartment was located only 15 min walk from Entrance 2 of plitvice Lakes National Park. It's a short walk through the forest. Property was really clean. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Communication with the host was great as well, they would reply fast. Grocery store is located 1 min away from the apartment building. And there is a restaurant 10 min away by walk.
Rakovica
The Medeni apartment is exactly as described, completely equipped, very well maintained and located a few kilometers from cafe, restaurant, food market and a 15-minute drive to the Plitvice Lakes National Parks entrance. The hosts Bernarda and Petar warmly welcomed us offering a local drink and pastry during our stay. We would not hesitate to recommmand it.
Plitvička Jezera
There are 3 things that should be on everyone’s travel bucket list: 1. Visit Croatia 2. Include Plitvice Lakes National Park in itinerary 3. Stay at the Rustic Lodge Plitvice A fantastic family run property, with very clean and new rooms, great food and a memorable experience from check-in to check-out. Best wishes to the owner family.
Rudanovac
This apartment was amazing. The apartment was incredibly spacious, clean and comfortable. Vedran was very easy to communicate with and was at the apartment to meet us when we arrived. He recommended a restaurant for dinner. We were visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park, which was just 10 minutes away. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Vrelo Koreničko
The host Ana was super helpful. Complete nature sounding you and plenty of space for children. Apartment location was 20 minute drive from Plitvice Lakes National Park and also Bosnia & Herzegovina border Izačić was 30 minutes drive. You can find (Halal food options) and Una National Park there was very nice.
Rakovica
The apartment is located just a few minutes by car from Plitvice Lakes National park (Entrance 1). The hosts are great and welcoming family, very easy and warm in communication and hospitality. The apartment itself is more than great, fully equipped, spotlessly clean and so warm. For recommendation!
Grabovac
We had such a nice stay in Apartments Kristic!! The owners were so kind and helpful. The location was perfect — near some good restaurants and so close to Plitvice Lakes National Park!!! And our four boys loved swimming in the pool at the end of the warm days! We had a wonderful time!
Rakovica
The apartment was lovely and comfortable. We were also given a cot for our 1 year old daughter. The owner was very friendly too. When we arrived she gave us some cake and local liquors which was a nice touch. It was a great location for Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Seliste Dreznicko
Full equipped apartment in a calm place, perfect to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park and that area. Free parking, nice host, huge room, WC, balcony, Air Conditione, TV... everything. There are estaurants and supermarkets close-by, just 3-9min on foot.
Rakovica
We booked Pavlic Apartments because of its proximity to Plitvice Lakes National Park, about ten minutes to entrance one. Our host was very friendly and helpful, we received a full run down about the apartment and other attractions we could visit.
Rakovica
Fantastic, modern, very clean studio apartment perfect for family of four people. Very nicely decorated with beautiful terrace. Well equipped for cooking. On a beautiful and quiet place, just few minutes by car from Plitvice lakes national park.
Smoljanac
Sparkling clean, super friendly host - gave us to try homemade drink. Apartment is in very nice place, in the mountains so it is cold in the morning but view is awesome. Nice place to stay before going to Plitvice lakes national park, as we did.
