- From $428.46 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very Good - What previous guests thought, 631 reviewsWe stayed mostly in tourist cottages and I was a little concerned about staying in a guesthouse with kids, but this was perfect for us. The rooms are well-designed and the kitchen is fabulous, enough so that we lingered over coffee to play checkers and just enjoy the calm. We stayed at 10+ places in Iceland and this was the only one with a washer AND a dryer, so it's perfect for anyone who is staying in the country longer and needs a mid-trip laundry refresh. I believe it was fully booked the night we stayed but the shared facilities never felt crowded at all.Guest review byRachelUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 813 reviewsa nice historical place to stay in this town, strongly recommend this place. We happened to be in a storm when we arrived, and the staff were very nice and instructed clearly about our room, and where to eat, and was very helpful. The room was inside a historical building just next to the blue church! The room was just as shown on booking.com, and the bathroom was clean and tidy. Breakfast at the local gas station is strongly advised!!!!!Guest review byAlice TuTaiwan

The big Windows were a big plus,, we were able to see the northern lights from our bed! The soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel also were good quality. Close to gas station and grocery store. The restaurant was also good, the reindeer ragout was fantastic!Guest review byGiselaAustria
- From $195.31 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 304 reviewsRural beauty, serene and off the beaten path. Like going under the rope at a museum and sleeping in the bed. Something spiritual about the place just made you want to slow down and be for awhile. Family dinners were a pleasant change to the hotel fare. Well worth the jog off the beaten path!Guest review byChristopherUnited States

A nice town with plenty to do in the surrounding area.
A nice town with plenty to do in the surrounding area. During our stay, we got pizza from Askur Pizzeria, which was phenomenal, especially after a long day of travel. The main reason we chose to stay here was because we wanted to see the puffins at Borgarfjarðarhöfn, and hike the waterfall circle. Egilsstaðir was a perfect central location for us to see everything we wanted to in the area, and then some. The Netto nearby allowed us to get whatever we needed for our stay. We skipped the Vok baths, as one in our party was pregnant, and she could not enjoy the hot waters. We would definitely stay here again.Guest review byMatt - 10.0

It is a beautiful secluded town in Eastfjords filled with colorful houses. Serene and quiet surrounded by beautiful mountains. We wish we had more time to visit artisan galleries. Unfortunately we arrived late evening and art studios were closed.Guest review byAnonymousEstonia - 8.0
I love this little town.
I love this little town. To me, it is a perfect stop for a night if you are driving the entire ring road. That area from Djupivogur to Höfn, and just beyond in either direction is some of THE prettiest landscapes in Iceland, in my opinion.Guest review byKateIceland - 10.0

It is unusual to find a place that has a still quietness with great beauty. Sitting on the porch, I could only hear the wind and birds. My teenage grandkids loved it too. They were disappointed that we only planned to stay one night. We would definitely stay here again.Guest review byAnnetteUnited States - 10.0
An Unbelievable Gem at an Unbeatable Price!
An Unbelievable Gem at an Unbeatable Price! I was initially drawn in by the incredibly affordable rates, which led me to expect a rather basic lodging and dining experience. To my absolute delight, I couldn't have been more mistaken. The room I stayed in was nothing short of fantastic, and the restaurant left me in awe. The staff, without exception, was both incredibly helpful and genuinely friendly. However, the real gem here is the owner, who boasts an impressive depth of knowledge about the local wildlife. Every one of my numerous questions was met with boundless enthusiasm and a wealth of expertise. It's safe to say that I'm eagerly anticipating a return trip, set for the upcoming summer or fall season, in pursuit of a memorable fishing adventure. This place exceeded my expectations on every level, and I can't wait to experience it all over again.Guest review byThomas - 8.0
Stafafell Nature Camp was what I expected.
Stafafell Nature Camp was what I expected. My only suggestion would be for them to trip the shrubs on the trails to the tents as they scrape against your bare legs. Having a clear clear to to your tent would be nice.Guest review byJason - 10.0

Had a wonderful stay in this beautiful newly renovated hotel on the coast, wish I could had stayed longer. Owners are very nice and the complimentary breakfast was a nice added bonus. The perfect place to stay in Eastern Iceland!Guest review bySean - 8.0
Our one-night stop turned into two due to a heavy storm.
Our one-night stop turned into two due to a heavy storm. The hotel handled the situation very amenably. Good food in the hotel and also at the café and village shop in Breiddalsvik itself, which is about 5 km away. Fantastic scenery all round. Motor museum and brewery in the village with the opportunity to go for horse rides directly from the hotel.Guest review bycolinhamGermany - 10.0

The Hallormsstaður area is on a beautiful lake with the largest forest in Iceland nearby. Several significant waterfalls, including the 420 ft. Hengifoss, are minutes away by car. And yet the area is just 15 minutes from Egilstaðir and all its city amenities. Really an ideal location for exploring Eastern Iceland!Guest review byJoyceUnited States - 8.0
It was a peaceful place and we liked it very much.
It was a peaceful place and we liked it very much. The property was very good. I just would have liked an espresso machine. Also, the position of the bathroom is inconvenient for the people in the room next to it. The others could easily disturb them. Otherwise, everything was very pleasant.Guest review byGalinaCyprus
