The location is perfect, near station, family mart, drug store. We got clear view of Mt Fuji from our room and at the door step of the hotel. The management is very flexible and supportive as one of my son was sick and they had done their best to accommodate us. Very appreciated! Definitely stay again if we come back

Exquisite six room hotel in the countryside. Shuttle will pick you up at the station if you are not driving. Quiet, calm - perfect to get away from the hub bub of Japan's big cities! It is a splurge but the rooms are huge and beautiful. There is a private hot spring for the use of guests only - it is outside and the water is truly mineral saturated. We went once before dinner and once in the evening which was magical. Breakfast is included - delicious and served in the bar area or in your room. There is a restaurant next door that is associated with the hotel - "western" themed because of the horse riding vibe and the food was delicious. And finally, the added bonus is the Keith Haring Museum beside the hotel - spectacular building and collection. All in all the Percy was to spend two nights to relax and recharge...which we did.

We had originally booked another property, but due to snow fall it was inaccessible and the booking was cancelled. So we opened booking.com and found this property…and wow what a fantastic surprise it was. Hotel Fuurin had literally only opened on the day we booked it and so we turned out to be the very first guests. The staff were absolutely wonderful, very attentive and kind. The lady at reception spoke very good english and the concierge was an absolute gentlemen. This property is absolutely brand new, even the tv films hadn’t been removed when we arrived, no expense has been spared it is top quality for everything. There are only 6 rooms so you feel like a cherished guest and they treats you as such. The restaurant served a few different choices, I had the hamburger steak and it was delicious. Laundry room is available with washer and dryer. There is a brilliant family bath which you can book for a private onsen experience. The room has direct views of Mount Fuji, when the weather finally turned and we saw the mountain it was absolutely breathtaking. We have stayed in many places in Japan, including Okinawa, Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Matsuyama, Kyoto, Osaka and of course Tokyo…but this place is probably our favourite hotel and we found it by accident.

Helpful staff and good location because there is the bus stop of red line bus in front of the hotel. Facilities are more than well enough, yukata, pajamas, skin care - brand POLA. Great hotel vibe, so peaceful to stay here. We have kaiseiki dinner here with the plenty of food, so delicious and we are so full.

Ropeway and boat trip was good. We hired bikes from Jays as they shut later than the others and went to the Chureito Pagoda, Fujisan World Heritage Center, and then cycled round the lake stopping at Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum, Oishi Park and Yamanashi Gem Museum.

I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. In addition, for young children, you can visit the sheep shed where they keep the sheep to see sheep up close, wander down and the up the hill behind reception, and get the best tasting soft serve ever from the restaurant!

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.

Hokuto is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track destination, perfect for a weekend or even 3 or four days. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place for hikers - since it's located at the base of the Yatsugatake mountain range. The adventurers can go explore the hiking trails and waterfalls, but also there are charming cafes, art galleries and international cuisine restaurants splattered in the area. I would avoid going there by car on a Saturday morning, because the Chuo Express Road gets packed and it may take up to six hours to get there from Tokyo (the normal is 2 hours). So if you can, go on a weekday.

Fujikawaguchiko is nice and quiet place, but little bit boring. No nightlife, or great restaurants. Walking trails and roads overgroving with weeds. The town has lake, but no place to swim. We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hr
