Fast friendly check in. The restaurant was good and we did not have to leave the property to find a better meal. We came the day school was back in so there were almost no guests. Very quiet and restful. The massage was 550 pesos and we recommend the service.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, as were porterd, and restaurant staff. The Air-conditioned room was fantastic. Spacious room. Cleaned every day, and re-stocked. Great placement to walk to everything.

We are going to return to Veracruz for an extended stay when...
We are going to return to Veracruz for an extended stay when it's a little less hot (the 35˚ highs were intense with the humidity). However, we were lucky to be there when it wasn't busy. The port, the historic centre, and the rambling old buildings of the township are a pleasure to walk around, especially at night when a cool breeze came off the water. There is a lot to see if you are interested in history. We didn't get to the beach or aquarium and look forward to that next time. Great shopping for authentic wares in Mercado Hidalgo, and heaps of artisan shops around the port. We enjoyed the generous camarón dishes at Tampico Mariscos.

Xalapa is a beautiful, green, and peaceful city with a very authentic atmosphere. The weather is fresh, and the surroundings are full of nature. There are many cultural spots, parks, and good coffee places to enjoy.

The city of Orizaba is very nice. It is clean and the people are very nice. English, nor languages other than Spanish and the native tounge, are spoken. Spanish is a must. Everything and everyone was nice.

Nice landscape for typical and local businesses and restaurants. People is very nice. It's a place to get to know traditions and way of life in this part of the country, nothing fancy but the beach is awesome ( short waves and clean coast) and you can expect to eat the biggest fish retrieve from the sea minutes ago.

Many seaside and river activities offered here. Dunes are unique. Beach tranquil and water temperature perfect. Excellent seafood served by many beachside restaurants. Popular for family vacations. Easy access by bus and taxi. Archaeological sites nearby. Playa Chachalacas a great experience for my family who enjoyed 4x4's on the beach, a sea and river boat trip, and the pleasures only found during a beach vacation.

ZOCALO and PORTALES restaurants are fine and entertaining , good food and music ...people are pleasant enough but not much to do , can day trip to Fortin de las Flores or ORIZABA ...dreary commercial buildings with huge billboards and , thundering streets and avenues a BIG SPRAWING UNATTRACTIVE TOWN ..do not recommend ...hard to see mountains and volcanos ..a disapponitment

Great access to the nearby Magic Towns of Mexico, Coatepec...
Great access to the nearby Magic Towns of Mexico, Coatepec and Xico, easily reached by bus from Mercado de los Sauces for $10 pesos to Coatepec and another $10 pesos to Xico from Coatepec. You can do both in one day but we would stay in Coatepec on a future trip. The area including Xalapa has access to good locally produced coffee both ground and whole beans. Xalapa has very nice historic well preserved buildings. The historic Centre is hilly so be prepared to walk the hilly streets. A visit to Xalapa was a better than expected treat.

I have lived in Mexico as a US immigrant for 23 years. I have been to Orizaba numerous times, it is my favorite town in Mexico, cleanest, sidewalks are wide and paved, benches everywhere along the sidewalks, and many attractions for this Pueblo Magico

Chachalacas is an excellent place to stay.
Chachalacas is an excellent place to stay. We enjoyed the beaches after we met some local people we started to enjoy the rest of it the restaurants and find out that local hotels are better to book when you arrive you can see what you get for the dollar. Hotels that are being booked in advance are overcharging and it’s not good for the economy. It caters to local holiday doors, not so much international travelers, as there is very little English spoken.
