This place is really an oasis in the heart of Tlacotalpan. The building is beautifully restored with period-appropriate tiling, fixtures, and hardwood pillars. Our standard room was modestly sized but nicely appointed. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and Louis the housecat is a lively presence! The whole vibe is very calm, quiet, and classy. We didn't try the spa facilities, but appreciated the pool, bathrobes, etc. A great place for a break in one of the prettiest small towns in the Americas.

We have stayed for the whole week and enjoyed every minute. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the ceilings are high and beds super comfy. The staff is absolutely lovely and always available. Ladies at reception are so kind and helpful. We will definitely be returning in future. The sea in front of the hotel in very swimmable and water is clean. We have also enjoyed our walks on the beach. Veracruz and the resort is a treasure and hope it stays as a little secret 😁

The best location within the Puerto de Veracruz. Super easy to get in / get out by walk, so lots of pedestrians nearby. Its very close to Pier T, so you can take an amazing ride in a colonial warship called Goleta Iguala and travel by sea to San Juan de Ulua Fortress without the need to take a taxi

Taking the bus to and from Puebla can be an adventure as the road winds through the mountains, where we got stuck for an hour behind construction and where fog can cause accidents. Once you're there, however, the city is lovely, clean and surrounded by mountains.

Nice landscape for typical and local businesses and restaurants. People is very nice. It's a place to get to know traditions and way of life in this part of the country, nothing fancy but the beach is awesome ( short waves and clean coast) and you can expect to eat the biggest fish retrieve from the sea minutes ago.

ZOCALO and PORTALES restaurants are fine and entertaining , good food and music ...people are pleasant enough but not much to do , can day trip to Fortin de las Flores or ORIZABA ...dreary commercial buildings with huge billboards and , thundering streets and avenues a BIG SPRAWING UNATTRACTIVE TOWN ..do not recommend ...hard to see mountains and volcanos ..a disapponitment

Many seaside and river activities offered here. Dunes are unique. Beach tranquil and water temperature perfect. Excellent seafood served by many beachside restaurants. Popular for family vacations. Easy access by bus and taxi. Archaeological sites nearby. Playa Chachalacas a great experience for my family who enjoyed 4x4's on the beach, a sea and river boat trip, and the pleasures only found during a beach vacation.

Go during the week as the weekends get really busy! Be prepared to drive to places-nothing is around the hotels really. Beautiful place to visit and I prefer it over Los Cabos which is where we were before.

We stayed one night in the Veracruz City but stayed in the...

We stayed one night in the Veracruz City but stayed in the Xalapa (capitol of Veracruz) which you can get to by comfortable bus for $15 U.S. for three nights. Drink Cafe Lencero hot milk poured into expresso from a pot held high, creating the foam. Friday and Saturday nights - local lively music style called Son Jarocho to be seen , with local dancers, at La Casona de Beaterio near Parque Juarez. We visited small villages called Coatepec(coffee growing and roasting - many tour options), Xico (costumes, masks, restaurant El Meson Xiqueño) and Naolinco (many shops of handmade leather goods -very inexpensive, several excellent restaurants on the plaza). Taxis to each from Xalapa are about 200 pesos., or short trip between Coatepec and Xico.

Great access to the nearby Magic Towns of Mexico, Coatepec...

Great access to the nearby Magic Towns of Mexico, Coatepec and Xico, easily reached by bus from Mercado de los Sauces for $10 pesos to Coatepec and another $10 pesos to Xico from Coatepec. You can do both in one day but we would stay in Coatepec on a future trip. The area including Xalapa has access to good locally produced coffee both ground and whole beans. Xalapa has very nice historic well preserved buildings. The historic Centre is hilly so be prepared to walk the hilly streets. A visit to Xalapa was a better than expected treat.

When it's sunny, Orizaba is a great place to wander around: mountains, beautiful river walk, charming "centro". In January though, there can be many cold and rainy days. Maybe pick a different time of year!
