This lodge is amazing and offers stunning views over the Fish River Canyon from each single room. It's quiet and if you like nature and stillness, this is the place for you! You can do rim walks on both sides that range from 45-75 minutes that I would recommend doing during sunrise and sunset time. The food is amazing as well, and there is a good vegetarian alternative, as well as a good wine card. When I found out that the wifi was much better in other rooms and told the staff that I need to work and have video calls, they gave me a new room after the first night. Amazing! The best part was that the staff really went the extra mile. On my first morning there, the staff had noticed that one of my tired was losing air. They then found out that a screw was inside of it which makes the air slowly go out. They then changed the wheel of my car, and they even took the broken wheel to seal the whole in the tire that I'd have a backup in case I got another flat on the way back. When I ask what all of this cost me, they said "we're here to help. If you want to give anything, it's up to you but not required". I was completely stunned and very grateful. And then I had the problem that I didn't have the right tool to loosen the screws on my wheel, so the manager lent one to me in case something else happens and then had a courier pick it up in Windhoek at a cafe I was working. I've never experienced this kind of service and am really grateful to the people at Fish River Lodge. I'll definitely come back!

A peaceful and welcoming stopover in the middle of the Namibian countryside. The rooms are neat and simple, just what you need for a good night’s rest after a long drive. The highlight was definitely the home-cooked dinner (N$200 per person) — warm, hearty, and perfect for a winter evening. There are horses and cows on the property, adding to the authentic farm feel. The manager was very friendly and made the stay even more pleasant. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but that’s part of the charm. If you’re road-tripping through southern Namibia, this is a great, down-to-earth place to rest and recharge.

We loved everything about this property. The room was very comfortable, lovely bedding, kitchen was well equipped and the with the Braai room next door making a meal was very convenient and easy. Caroline was an amazing host, making restaurant reservations for us and arranging to have our laundry done at a very reasonable price. The rocking chars on the Verandah to enjoy the beautiful view were the icing on the cake!

The Obelix was clean, comfortable and was in a good location only a short walk from the town centre. The staff were very helpful and generally there was a genuine friendly atmosphere. The breakfasts were freshly prepared. The rooms were a little on the small side, but for the price I think this Hotel represents excellent value for money.

Amazing bed (firm but cozy) and clean smelling sheets. Fan and air con work well. My room had a view of Orange River. Pool was amazing, views are amazing. It was expensive (for me- I upgraded from my camping trip) but we’ll worth it! Shower and hot water work well.

Luderitz and the area around it, is so different than other...

Luderitz and the area around it, is so different than other places in Namibia. Lots of historical German built houses. A lot to see in and around Luderitz. The only pity is that a lot of these places are a bit "run-down"

Actually a gem of a place which I have driven past for years! A lot to see if you take the time, especially the 'koppie' behind the town. A negative for us was the 'cash only' when we arrived at the Giant's Playground - really?

Aus is clean and safe.

Aus is clean and safe. The people are very helpful and friendly. From there one could go to see the desert horses, Kolmanskop and Lüderitz etc. Lüderitz is no longer a sleepy fishing village and has become quite industrial - too busy for me. The camping spots I believe has remained as good as always

The place is wonderful with a beautiful scenery .The staff are so kind and willing to assist at all times just to ensure all is well. Keep up the good works. Funds allowing, you may consider TVs in the rooms to allow visitors watch what they want when they want

What a gem to find at the border!

What a gem to find at the border! Dirk and Steph are great hosts and their young son is so cute. The accommodation is very comfortable and the food is superb. The bush bar has wonderful views over the Orange River. Good value for money

Quite run down, not a great feel to it with many children and teenagers quite aggressively begging. Didn't feel ag all comfortable and dont know why authorities dont clamp down on this as its going to impact the tourist trade. Kolmanskruppe very interesting though

The host welcomed us very friendly.

The host welcomed us very friendly. The bedding was very neat and tidy. However the TV did not work. The bathroom is very outdated. There is no towel rails or any table to accommodate your toiletries. Shower warm water tap did not work properly. No shower door, only a plastic skirting. The shower definitely needs an upgrade as accordingly to the visits register since 2021 this is noted by every visitor. It seems to me that nothing is done about it. I received an SMS stated that the host will refund us for the inconvenience, but this far nothing happened. In conclusion, I slept twice at Urban Life, the first and the last. The outside of the unit was very untidy with the grass more than 10cm in hight.

A small town with comforable places to stay at. Idilic place to take beautiful photos of the surroundings. Grunau is a good place to rest before you take your trip deeper into Namibia or when you are on your way to South Africa.

This was our 2nd time staying here.

This was our 2nd time staying here. Lovely unit, with everything you need for an overnight stay. The unit was clean, spacious and fully equipped for our stay. Would definitely recommend for a stay over!
