Gorilla Leisure Lodge totally blew me away. If you’re heading to Bwindi for trekking, this place is it—don’t look any further. I’ve traveled around Uganda before, and this was definitely one of my top stays. The quality of the lodge is way beyond what you'd expect for the price. Everything was new and spotless, the food was delicious, and the overall value is unbeatable. A huge shoutout to Madinah and the rest of the team—the people at Gorilla Leisure Lodge are among the kindest I’ve ever met. They went out of their way to make sure I was smiling from start to finish. We went gorilla trekking at Rushaga gate (amazing!) and the lodge is just a 15-minute drive away. Unlike some who have to wake up at 4 AM to drive an hour and a half on rough roads, you’re super close to everything here. Gorilla Leisure Lodge is a hidden gem thats only 15 minutes away from the gate. My only regret is that we stayed just one night. It would have been perfect to return after trekking and unwind on the porch with the beautiful mountain views. I would have loved to see the sunset and soak up more of the lodge’s serenity. Gorilla Leisure Lodge is top-notch, and the warmth of the team makes you feel right at home. I’ve already recommended it to my family, and I’d definitely come back in a heartbeat!

The camp is simply AMAZING, and the staff incredibly nice and helpful. The camp borders the National park, it is extremely peaceful, you can see animals around, and it is extremely convenient to go for gorilla tracking (or any other activity in the NP) as it takes less than 10min walking to the entrance of the NP. The staff was incredibly nice, I got upgraded to a beautiful single room, everyone was very helpful, Moses came to get me when monkeys were playing around at the camp so I could see them, he went with me to the NP on the day of my gorilla tracking as I was traveling alone without a guide, it was really heartwarming! There was even hot water and wifi (on and off, but I was expecting no wifi at all so that was already great!) This is definitely the best place to stay in Bwindi - Rushaga!! I absolutely recommend it!

The location of the camp is very convenient if you are planning to do golden monkey trekking or to climb Mount Sabiyeno. The Mgahinga national park gate for those activities is right beside the camp. It’s about a 25 minute drive to the other gate used to climb Mount Muhavula. The camp’s grounds are well-maintained. It’s quiet and feels secure. It’s right next to the community and staff will provide an informative guided community walk for $10 US per person. The rooms are clean. Furnishings are basic but comfortable. Decor is traditional. We stayed in two different rooms. One was more spacious and could sleep up to four people. It had a lovely private porch. There’s also a common porch on the main building where meals are served, and a volleyball net. The food was delicious and abundant. The staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful, and professional. This Camp is excellent value for the money.

Ivan, the owner is a super nice and helpful person. He can also help with the Gorillapermits and answer any other question about traveling in Uganda. He hiked with us to a nice viewpoint and we could store our lugagge, when we went to the Nationalpark. Good breakfast and restaurant, big and clean rooms.

We had really great time in Agape house. Gideon and Ester let you feel at home, they are helpful, peaceful and very cooperative. Their son, Edward is amazing. He has helped us organizing trips around and had also joined us. The site he manages, the zipplinings, is great. We'd love to return.

We had a great night at the homestay. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast is served on site and dinner is just a short drive away. Both were delicious. Our host Emily went above and beyond to make our stay better and helped us sort our Gorilla Trek the next day. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting Mgahinga!

Loved the location and the scenery. Absolutely loved their little touch of bringing a hot water bottle to you every night!! Made me all warm and fuzzy! Special thanks to Elizabeth at reception for helping me out with yours and transport and to Nico for his hospitality in the restaurant.

    Definitely recommended for gorilla trekking.

Definitely recommended for gorilla trekking. Peaceful, beautiful area with UWA staff offering several options according to your condition: harder trek (rewarded with seldom seen gorilla family) for those who can handle it, easier option for those of us who can't hike far but still want to meet the gorillas. Something for everyone!

We visited first the Ruhija sector where we stayed in the Ruhija gorilla lodge which we did not enjoy. The gorillatreck however was an experience we will never forget. After one day we drove to Rushaga where we spend another night and we were lucky we could arrange last minute permits for the gorillatreck in this part of Bwindi. A whole different experience. We are very glade we did this. Here we stayed in the Rushaga gorilla camp which is very lovely. The restaurant is less cosy, food just Ok and the shop far to expensive but the vieuws, location and chalets make it worth staying here.
