Everything was excellent. Great location for seeing Ciudad Vieja and Centro de Montevideo. Excellent breakfast. And the receptionist Anna was so nice and helpful. She provided us with the name of the bus company, the hour and our reservation numbers. All we had to do was arrive at the bus station and pay for our tickets. It could not have been easier and more convenient. I cannot remember such friendliness and great service in our many travels through South America. ¡mil gracias!

The hotel has an outdoor pool and fitness center.... The location was perfect 2KM from the airport allowed me to opt to walk there after being quoted a bomb to catch a taxi from the airport. The 2KM walk took me 15mins, I was able to get checked in as soon as I arrived and settled in. The staff are super friendly and English is no problem, though I speak and read in Spanish. The beds are amazing !! No word of a lie, if I could have taken the pillows and bed with me I would have, I had the best sleep in my 3wks in Chile in different bedandbreafast and hotels. Attention to details is great and kitchen staff were able to prepare something for me that wasn’t on the menu. The lake views are pleasant and certainly nice to spend the evening just chillin watching the night come in. If you need to make a spot over before or after a flight this would be the place. Comfortable, pleasant, friendly vibe and staff that are helpful.

We stopped here as a port of call on our S. American cruise. After experiencing Buenos Aires, I wasn't too optimistic or excited to be stopping here (how wrong I was). Immediately upon leaving the port, we were greeted by folks from the tourist department who handed out city maps which included a walking tour of the old town. The area of the old town immediately outside of the port was very interesting. We saw a building which housed several steak houses which were grilling all kinds of meats over open flames (their version of the food court at the mall). The place was packed and it was very interesting (although we didn't stop to eat anything). We walked through the old town and there were a lot of interesting European style buildings, and the walks were lined with vendors selling souvenirs. We came across several small squares, including one which had an antiques market going on. We saw several people walking around drinking something from what looked like a coconut with a metal straw and holding a thermos tucked under their arm. Somehow we ended up talking to a local man doing the same and he was very friendly. He explained what the drink was and allowed our daughter to hold his cut and thermos for a photo. Overall we really enjoyed Montevideo and would recommend it! It was one of the highlights on our cruise.
My favourite spots were Mercado del Puerto, Agricultural Market, Punta Carretas shopping and eateries, Teatro Solis. Montevideo is a nice city but a bit expensive.
if you speak Spanish, Montevideo is quite enjoyable for its lovely architecture and chill, laidback citizenry. if you don't speak Spanish, you will struggle here as you will not encounter many Uruguayans with a usable grasp of English. don't miss: Independence Plaza/Teatro Solis, the Legislative Palace, the Rambla, and neighborhoods like Pocitos, Punta Carreras, Carrasco, and Ciudad Viejo (the latter, only during daylight). side trips to Punta del Este, Piriapolis and Colonia del Sacramento are worth it and easily booked.
Maybe I didn't hit Montevideo at the right time or stay in the right area. Made the unintentional mistake of being there on May 1 -- everything was closed for a holiday. And I mean EVERYTHING -- couldn't even find a restaurant open at night. Stayed in Ciudad Vieja, which I thought would be rundown chic, gritty, but charming. I found it mostly to just be rundown: dirty buildings, lots of street people loitering around, higher percentage of drunks, homeless, and panhandlers than I expected. The historic buildings downtown are interesting and worth a look (in the day), but it loses what charm at has at night when most places close downtown. Would recommend staying outside Ciudad Vieja in other, nicer parts of Montevideo. Good city to make day trips from.
-horário de funcionamento muito limitado, só em dias de semana. Fomos em uma segunda-feira feriado e estava fechado sem infos no site sobre isso. Retornamos na quarta e foi uma visita imperdível para Montevideo
Montevideo was very relaxed and kind of dead. We spent the night but felt like we could have seen the city in a day. There was only so much to see. To be fair, we were here in the winter so it may not have been a very popular time of year.
Montevideo es una ciudad increíble y que en cualquier época del año vale la pena visitarla. Si mejoraría el servicio de restaurantes en fechas festivas, la mayoría cerrados y los que abrieron cobraron muy varón por una cena Fe fin de año.
Highly recommend renting bikes to ride to the beach. Montevideo requires taxis, but the old town is walkable. The market at the port is expensive but worth it! Jacinto is also a must eat. Amazing food!
Montevideo is a beautiful city. It is a city with history and espectacular building from the last century. However it is a expensive city when we talk about food.
Montevideo is a gret city to go on for a visit if you enjoy going to the beach, visiting a museum or having a coffee or a dinner at a nice boutique or gourmet restaurant. Uber is working fine in Montevideo and it is a bit cheaper than taxi riding, so it is my choice when I have to move in the city. The "Old City" or "Ciudadela" is the place where Spanish first settled in when founding Montevideo in 1726 by Mauricio de Zavala. Here is a nice spot to go on promenading, where you will find nice restaurants and cafes, places to go where you can enjoy a gourmet menu in a budget fare. I would recommend La Corte, Jacinto, or Urbani. All these restaurants are family friendly, with a gourmet cousine, and they are open from Monday to Saturday afternoon. Anyhow, check their schedules and open hours before going. The beaches, are great to go in Summer if you enjoy sunbathing or swimming, from Pocitos And Ramirez to Carrasco Beach. All of them have lifeguards service and most of them have spots where you can buy soft drinks, beer, or water, and some bites of fast food. In most beaches you can find people who have chairs and sun umbrellas for rent. An useful advice: ask people who already are in the beach if it is safe swimming where you are. Sometimes you can find jellyfish in the water. Some spots have twisted water currents which could be harmful, especially for aged people.

Really liked this hotel - the pool was relaxing, the lobby inviting, rooms light, breakfast was good and coffee great. The roof top terrace and pool are just as pictured and I wish we had had another day or two there. It is about three blocks from the Montevideo shopping center, one block from the river/rambla, and half a block from a street with pubs, cafes etc. Staff was also very nice. In sum, everything about the Pto Buceo Cottage says relax. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.

Nice boutique hotel. Great location close to Punta Carretas Shopping Mall, many restaurants and 2 min to the Rambla . We were lucky and had a room on the 8th floor with great view to pool and river - hence we cannot judge the quality of the rooms on the lower floors. They serve a rich and high quality breakfast. The hotel organizes bicycles which will be brought to the hotel - this is a great way to cycle up the Rambla and to get around relaxed Montevideo. For us a clear 10 and excellent value for money.

I had a very nice stay in this hostel in Montevideo, during 4 nights. Pablo y Seba are very nice and helpful, they helped me with everything I needed. The atmosphere was nice in general with the personel and it is also easy to meet people and share some moments (like a dinner). The hostel is very close to 'la rambla', but quite far away from the old center (30-40 min walking or about 15 min in colectivo). I also rented a bike from the hostel and made a nice tour on the rambla.

The location of the Hotel Palacio can't be beat. Just seconds from the doorstep of the hotel in one direction is the Plaza Independencia, and in the opposite direction, you're mere steps from the Ciudad Vieja (Old City). The hotel staff are some of the kindest/warmest that we have met on our travels. The room met our expectations, nothing overly luxurious, but has everything you need for a comfortable stay in the heart of Montevideo at a super affordable price.

What a completely charming place. Our primary trip was in Argentina, but we came to Montevideo for 2 nights (easy trip via Buquebus ferry) and fell in love with it. This hotel was a factor in that! Great location, charming history, lovely room (we were in the Don Carlos suite) beautifully appointed. Staff was friendly and helpful and always available. Terrific morning breakfast selections as well in a charming salon.

Good hostel located in a beautiful building in the center of Montevideo. The dorms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. There are plenty of bathrooms and showers, which are kept really clean. The breakfast is good too. As for the staff, everyone is very friendly and welcoming and always willing to help you. And the kitchen is amazing as it is big, clean and has everything you could need.

Helpful staff in learning how to get around Montevideo. Good breakfast. Large room with plenty of room to move around. Clean rooms and premises. They also made it easy to split the room charge to separate credit cards. Bus service to downtown Montevideo was at the corner. Good pizza place a little more than one block from the hotel - Pizzeria Trouville (recommended by the desk clerk.)

Very convenient if you are taking an early bus out of the Tres Cruces station....right across the street. Easy public bus ride to historic district. Room was a bit small but excellent king size bed, great shower, mini-kitchen, etc. Super clean but no "charm" however I hope that you have better things to do in Montevideo than hang out in a hotel room! Great place to return to.

Very nice location in El Centro, and right across from Plaza del Entrevero. My room overlooked the plaza, and it was a nice view. The hotel also has a viewing platform on the 15th floor the provides a nice view of Montevideo. Breakfast had one of the best selections on my trip through South America, including warm scrambled eggs! Very nice place for a few days stay.

Super chill staff, they always are quick to offer a helping hand. Special s/o to Patrick, a true homie! Also the building is really cool, with a great outdoor chill out space in the back and a beautiful wall mural. I liked this hostel so much that I booked it again a week later when I returned to Montevideo.
