Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FinlandSmall room and bathroom. No aircon, so quite warm to sleep. There's loud people and sirens outside on the square all night that bothered at least on the 1st floor.
The room was good and stylish even though quite small. Staff very friendly. The hostel itself was quiet and peaceful on a Friday night. Simple but good breakfast for the price (7,50€).

United KingdomThe noise from outside the hostel is loud. I struggled to get to sleep due to the shouting, whistling, sirens, and general boisterous noisiness outside. My room was overlooking Steintogweg, which appears to be a less desirable area to hang around. Tip for staying while they are renovating - rooms with high numbers like 330 are accessible by heading round to the right hand side from the stairwell, follow it and keep going (Part of the corridor on the left at the top of the stairwell is blocked but no signage pointing you in the right direction)
The hostel is right next to the train station so ideal for dropping off bags, and for getting back after a long day of exploring.

IrelandThe hostel is very close to the main train station so it can be rowdy at night.
The staff were super nice, very knowledgeable and helpful too. The 4 bed dorm we stayed in was very clean as was the bed linen. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, a perfect start to a day's exploring. Very interesting mix of people from all over the world staying at the hostel, had some great conversations about the state of the world..

GermanyOne bathroom (even if toilet and shower are seperate) for 8 people is not enough. Same with one bathroom for the whole floor. Also the bathroom in the hallway felt like a sauna. One bathroom with several showers cabins and toilets on each floor would be a better solution in my opinion. The bathrooms could also use some hangers or shelfs where people can put their clothes.
The bed was comfortable an the sheets were clean. The boxes underneath the beds to store luggage are spacious. The view over the central station was great.

United KingdomOutside at night is not very nice. It was a hot day and the rooms had no ventilation, Maybe it was good for cooler days. Very few staff need to deal with many things at the same time.

Germanythere was so many homeless people around the central bus station which is in front of the hotel. being so close to train station makes up for that.
location is superb. I used my bed in a 8-bed dorm room only for sleeping. traveled everywhere quickly by walk or train. my big sized luggage fitted in the lockers.

NetherlandsThe area around Hbf especially the northern side is filled with homeless and drunks. Of course not the hostel’s fault but notable nonetheless. Room is very small, especially if you need to fit two suitcases. You don’t have a nightstand or anything to put things on. Bathroom also is small.
It’s extremely accessible if you travel by train. It’s an option for budget travellers.

PortugalNo one cleaned our room during the stay, even though we left the sign on the door. The location's vibe may be outputting for some, but I recommend you go to one of the Portuguese cafés nearby and have yourself an expresso and a nata, you'll feel better immediately. :)
The staff was really nice and the location really convenient, right next to Hamburg's Central Station. The area itself is a bit overcrowded and there was a lot of police activity right next to it... So I wouldn't recommend it for families with children. But if like us you're just a young couple passing by and travelling by train, then it's a great option! The rooms had everything needed, there is laundry service (6 euros per machine). People leave books behind that you can take with you.

ItalyBeware that the surrounding streets are full of drug addicts especially during the night. But it's not very dangerous (many shops are always open) and it's not the hostel's fault. If anything, it's well located since it's in front of the central station. The main issue is the size of the bathroom inside the rooms, very very very small. Breakfast was not excellent but the buffet cost 7,50 and you get what you pay for. I'd still do it again.
Aside from the surrounding streets (not its fault) and the bathroom this hostel is almost perfect. The ideal place to stay. Very well kept, amazing beds, very clean, an adjacent bar and breakfast for 7,50. A big place near the station, comfortable even if you stay more than one night. Also, the price was excellent.
