How the spa booking works- it’s subject to availability and you can’t book so I didn’t get the use of the spa which is disappointing.

Beautifully designed rooms and corridors. Lots of space and helpful staff. Very clean rooms with lovely Elemis products.

This second visit has been a disappointment. The supposed superior room was not superior due to the room set up. Bed was near to a large nib in the wall one side which made getting in and out of bed difficult during the night. The bathroom extractor didn’t work and there was mould in places. The bathroom dated. Cracked tiles on the floor. Shower valve that scolded and was tricky to get it to a nice temperature. No hooks on the entrance wall for hanging anything other than the small wardrobe which is no good for handbags or towels. Food was cold at breakfast the two days. For the price we expect better, a lot better. The receptionist sad it was because they were busy?? What on earth!

It’s a lovely hotel and we stayed before so wanted to come back.

The room choice very near the very noisy main tram route outside the room - Till 23-30 at night , and from 06-30 in the morning - still tired in the morning after a nights sleep - NOT rested and refreshed!!! No mention of this possibility form Booking.com or the Hotel!!.

Everything - except the room being very near the Tram outside non- stop till 11pm and again in the morning from 06-30 - lost sleep !!!! Tired after a night sleep - not refreshed!!!😡

Shame we couldn't book the spa ahead of arrival as we only had one night stay. So this limited our timing. (Suggest if they have been let down with pre booking that they make non-refundable charge for people that don't turn up!) Service in reception bar a little slow.

Just about everything. We tried to book an extra night but they were no vacancies.

Free access to the spa was great, but it did mean that it was rather busy.

Impressive on entrance - from the outside, into the hotel foyer/bar area. The room was perfect. The location was excellent.

Ive stayed at the Midland several times over the years. This time I was disappointed. Standards have slipped noticeably. Breakfast was nice but kept running out of things. Spa not as special as I remember. Location obviously still amazing

The window was stuck open and there was an annoying noise of aircon or a generator switching on and off during the night.

The service was excellent. The room was very good, clean and the bed was comfortable.

We had to call service out to fix the air conditioning, but they came out straight away. Therefore other than this there were no issues.

Room was excellent. Service great at the Champagne Bar. We had afternoon tea in the tea room which was excellent and with plenty of choice. Great location for the Concert Hall just 3 mins walk from Hotel.

Could be cleaner (saw a spidersweb in the hallway for our entire stay. 10 pounds for checking in less than an hour early is a bit much.

Our room was a jr. suite on 5th floor spacious but the it was heated with electric heaters and it drew cold air from the windows. The lighting was very cold and there wasn't an ounce of "Hygge" in the room. Probably the coldest room in every meaning that I have stayed in for many years.

Breakfast is busy but has all you could reasonably wish for plus some. Location and Entry Hall is really impressive and service is kind.

Bathroom and hall areas need updating as looking rather tired. We were told the hotel bar would be open until midnight but they stopped serving at 11 which was a bit of a shame.

Beautiful old building, welcoming entrance and stunning bar area. Staff were very helpful and polite. Room was very nice and well equipped.

Make up stains on furniture & furniture looked a bit tired. The shower didn't drain properly, the room was a little dark. The room was clearly renovated to a high standard at one point but hasn't been maintained to the same standard. Didn't like how loud the tram noise was outside but we were on a lower level of the building so it was understandable.

Comfiest bed we've ever slept in. Elemis hand wash was lovely. Great selection of teas. Use of the spa for free was a real treat and added bonus. Free storage of bags in the day after check out.

There was hair on the bathroom floor. The room itself was clean but hair had been missed in the bathroom which put me off a bit. But overall we loved the hotel

Location is brilliant, not far from the station and the bars / restaurants we like. The bed was soooo comfy, which is a major bonus in a hotel

We did not find the beds particularly comfortable. It would definitely be an improvement to have more pillows.

The building itself is wonderful and the rooms and decor did not disappoint. We Particularly enjoyed the bar area.
