Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesNothing major. A little bit challenge to find the hotel when we first came but once we knew the way, it was easy. One tip, don’t ignore David’s message a few days before your arrival.
David is a great host. The hotel is in a quiet Italian local neighborhood. Great way to mingle with locals. ~15 minutes to Piazza San Marcos.

United KingdomThe room had a somewhat odd and unpleasant smell, but it did seem very clean - so maybe it was just duo to canal or something else.
Location was perfect, quiet and a bit away from the main tourist hotspots so you don't exit right into the crowd, but still very close so you can walk around to everything you'd like to see. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy.

AustraliaThe only down side was a mosquito or two, but this can't be helped in Venice in general...
Alla Vigna is in an excellent and quiet location, not far from the main attractions, San Marco, Rialto etc. Communication and check-in experience was excellent. Everything was very clear and staff was super helpful. Alla Vigna is only 5min walk from the public transport boat station Celestia. The room is not huge but pleasant and has everything one needs and is right beside one of the canals. There are some spaces in the building that can be used for writing, computer work etc. The building is well air conditioned which was lovely when having been out in the heat. There is also a boat to the airport (direct line from Ospedale station, also a short walk away), which was great and convenient.

CanadaWe had requested check in between 1-2pm which was approved. When we get there, staff was walking out and we had to convince her to let us check in (as she was done work for the day and did not want to help). We were asked to pay the city tax through a website, we decided to pay cash and were told the cleaning staff would come to pick it up from our room the following day. Instead a random staff member came into our room that same day without warning.
Great location and spacious

United StatesThere were some mosquitoes but I guess near the water it is to be expected
The room was a nice mix of old and modern & The lobby was decorated nicely. Our room had a canal view. There were shops and restaurants nearby. The staff was responsive when we had a concern & we were able to leave baggage after we checked out.

SpainOK....I'm quiet happy about the value, Dont like to criticise, but perhaps (just a very friendly suggestion) ....get rid off the spider web...and on the 2nd day our room was full of ants.....not a problem, was not a first time in Venice. Bring a insects plug in.
Excellent location, easy to access, clear info how to get there, very quiet!!!! If you want to experience typical Venician 'day to day life"....this location is for you!

BulgariaWe didn't have hot water two of the 3 days there, slightly warm was more like it. After talking to the host it was a little better on our first night there, but our quick shower before check out was not pleasant and we didn't have time to wait for a fix. I guess the house at its full capacity has water issues. Would have loved an espresso machine somewhere in the common area.
Great location in a super quiet neighbourhood, yet a pleasant 20 min walk to San Marco. Makes you forget you are in crazy touristy Venice. The room was spacious and cozy, The beds were comfy. We received super detailed instructions for reaching the house, and self-check in was really easy. 24/7 check in option is a big plus.

United KingdomThe check-in was rather weird. Nobody was there to meet us - we had to send photos of our IDs and pay the city tax online, which made us a bit nervous. I would have also appreciated a thicker blanket (the ones provided were thin and a bit dated) and breakfast at the hotel to save time. These were minor issues, though, compared to the overall comfort of the stay.
We loved the location. The hotel was convenient to reach, in a quiet, much less crowded neighbourhood. From there, you could travel easily to the Biennale sites - Arsenale was easily reachable on foot. The hotel itself is quiet and cosy, the room was warm enough. Also, as a devoted tea drinker, appreciated the presence of a kettle in the room.

BelgiumMosquitoes ! Even in autumn there are mosquitoes. But what would Venice be without its mosquitoes ? Just think about taking some repellant with you.
Easy to reach from the airport via waterbus or "vaporetto". Only 10 to 15 minutes walking from Giardini and Arsenale (Biennale). There is no breakfast served in this location, but one will find pleasant bars in the area where to get coffee and various breakfast options. Nice wine bars, trattorias, osterias and restaurants within walking distance from the location as well. Room is large, with private bathroom and required equipment for a short stay. It was quiet in the neighbourhood (when visited in low season). The room is cleaned on a daily basis, late enough to allow you to sleep a little longer if you wish to. A contact person from the location is available via Whatsapp in case needed and can regularly be met on site in the morning if needed.

Beautiful room, loved the serene location with a lovely view of the canal. Tea and a kettle to boil water provided. Lovely shower, and bidet in my room. Within walking distance to 2 water bus stops and to all the main tourist attractions. Felt very safe to walk as a solo female traveller. They kindly stored my case on my check out day for me.
