Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumGreat service, nice rooms in a nice building and a very nice location around the corner of Trastevere bars and restaurants! I would come back when in Rome again.

United KingdomOne of the shutters did not have a mechanism for securing it to the wall so banged in the wind at night- had to get up in the night and close shutter- not a big deal once knew where the noise was coming from- though the mosquito netting was securely attached and someone had already made a hole in it, clearly so they could close the shutter.
Lovely place in excellent location on the edge of the busy part of Trastevere. Very quiet street next to the botanical gardens. Room was large, clean, very comfortable full size bed. Large clean bathroom. We had a small balcony which in winter/early spring was a bit bleak, though nice for morning tea on a sunny day, and would I am sure be great in the summer. It was easy to walk every where from the location. We left bags in the communal kitchen on the last day and staff were helpful and efficient about letting us back in to collect them when we were ready to leave.

United StatesAccess was terrible. The only way in, and by in it requires four separate entries -- front door, gate, door to pension, and door to room -- require using a a link that opens to a site where you have to push button to open each door or gate. And sometimes they didn't work, which required calling a phone number for help. We never had trouble reaching someone on the phone, but in my view the system was too complicated and too glitchy.
It's in a nice location in Trastavere but on a quiet street. It is more of a pension than a hotel, with other parts of the building occupied by others. There was a kitchen shared with others in the guest house. We had a balcony though a wall prevented a view. In other words, it was modest but certainly comfortable.

RomaniaIt's an old bulding so some noise from the other people in the building can be heard sometimes. The biggest downside was the smell coming from de bathroom sewage.
Location is great. Very close to everything, but in a quiet area. It has good facilities. Good communication with the staff.

United StatesThere is an odor that is caused by not having traps in the sewer line, so the odor comes up through the drain system. That is the only "negative" and that can't be helped when you are staying in authentic, older neighborhoods. The odor is worth it for the location an the vibe!
Decorated stylishly, bathroom size was atypical, it was HUGE, loved the view, stellar! The common area kitchen was a great hangout space at the beginning and end of our day. We would have a glass of wine and review the day. It was wonderful.

AustraliaAccess via phone was troublesome after being out all day and needing sufficient battery. There were four layers of access to the building - front door, gate, shared area, individual room. These were locked and unlocked via the phone. It took a little while to master. A simple code would have worked better for us, that was independent of the phone.
Quiet street, but just a short walk to the Trastevere precinct. Large room with high ceilings and balcony. Well-appointed bathroom with generous amounts of shampoo, shower gel etc. Helpful support was available at all hours via Whatsapp. Went back for a second stay when we missed our train due to a strike. They were really helpful.

AustraliaWe have to make sure our phone’s battery doesn’t run out or we can’t unlock the doors to get back in. I would have preferred a code that does not rely on the phone.
The bed is very comfortable, it’s like sleeping on a cloud. The balcony is lovely. The street is very quiet, and feels safe with the police an academy around the corner. Yet it’s moments away from restaurants, shops and cafes of the vibrant Trastevere precinct.

United StatesThere are only five outlets in the room (one in the bathroom), and three of them are taken up by two bedside lamps and the modem. A bit tricky to keep two phones, a computer, and iPad and hearing aids all charged. The only tables in the room are those next to the bed and one on which they left water and prosecco and the remotes for TV and heat/AC. One more would be nice. My computer and my husband's iPad had to live on the floor.
Once we figured out the arcane entrance method, everything else went smoothly. We were in a room but also had a common area with refrigerator, sink, dishes, utensils, a coffee maker and electric tea kettle. There was also a small fridge in our room. This is a very old house, and much of the charm is still there. The bathroom was very modern with a walk-in shower. The wi-fi is excellent. This is on a short street that leads to the botanical garden.

SwedenBed linen was only changed after 5 nights after we asked for it. Room floor was not wet cleaned, only vaccumed. Rooms are not sound proofed, you hear other people walking and noise from surroundning apartments/stairway. Room information said garden view but it was no view, or very - very limited view towards neighbour windows/balconys.
Location is great in Trastevere with lot of restaurants and close walking distance (~15 min) to Rome city center and the Vatican. Our room (Studio w. Terrace) and the separate bathroom are large in size. Very fast response from owner/landlord when I had questions. Separate kitchen with free coffee and possibility to use refrigerator and some places to sit for eating.

United StatesIt was concerning that the internal gate (after the building door) was opened by a wired button or app. It seems unsafe in an emergency. If electricity is out, how would one exit in an emergency? The building door had a manual latch to open it (when exiting the building)
