It was a little bit of a drive from Lake Toya but I can understand why. The property was huge.

The property was beautiful and well thought out. The grounds were beautiful and the onsets were amazing! It was so relaxing. And the buffets were well worth the money. The food was good and staff very friendly.

My room had a noticeable musty smell to it. I assume it came from the Tatami mats (maybe they got wet before?). There were also stains on some furniture. It didn’t bother me that much cause I stuck to the bed and was out during the day but if you don’t have a car or plan to stay in all day, it might bother you. The bathroom showed its age and the shower curtain had some dark stains. This didn’t bother me too much either cause I used the Onsen instead.

The outdoor Onsen is definitely one major highlight of the hotel. Besides that the dinner and breakfast at the buffet restaurant was delicious. The staff was also very friendly

The only disadvantage of the location - if you stay on consecutive nights there is not much to do around the hotel while the onsen baths are closed, unless you rent a car. There is a short walk around which is pleasant but that's it. The hotel will arrange a lunch for you, so this is not a problem.

We had a fabulous stay here. The hotel was spacious and clean and we loved our room as well as the onsen. All of the meals on property were exceptional as well with a huge variety of choices available. This was a relaxing stop on our trip. It is quite far from other activities and restaurants so best to stay here if you are content to have a slow and relaxing visit while staying on the property.

A bit remote if you're staying longer than a day and don't have a car but it contributes to the magic being away from the main hustle. Not a lot to do in the middle of the day when the onsen is closed for cleaning and the games room/shops are also closed. Not really a complaint - really didn't need the room with the private bath as we never used it!

Great authentic japanese onsen experience we really felt was special. The onsen pools are extensive offering both inside and outside options. I often found that I had the whole onsen to myself or only a few other patrons - clientele is mostly Japanese, far less tourists than other spots. The outside pools offer a unique experience with 10 soaking tubs as well as the main pool - with the snow and woods surrounding you it was magical especially at night or early morning and while snowing. While there are a few safety railings and mats that spoil the magic a little, yes it does look as good as the photos suggest. We loved the traditional yukata/samae that everyone wears too. We booked the room with private onsen but didn't even use it because the outdoor onsens were so good. Buffet was great quality and enjoyable for both breakfast and dinner - I especially enjoyed the live cooking stations - the tempura was a stand out- light and crispy. The airport shuttle was convenient and cheap.

The outdoor onsen is definitely topnotch! Buffet breakfast and dinner are good too we especially love the tempura and the chicken. Everywhere in the hotel like from the lobby to the room has a panoramic view of the outdoor snow.

It’s in the middle of nowhere so if you want to leave the hotel, you will definitely need a vehicle. Also plan your flights around the hotel bus transfer timetable. We didn’t so we had to get a taxi back to the airport, it cost us $250AUD. The hotel transfer was around $20-30AUD. TV options also needs upgrading - I wished I brought a book!

It is a very large hotel, so it did not have that cozy feel, but they went out of their way to make sure all guests felt comfortable and had personal attention which really made up for it.

This is an excellent place to stay. The onsen was fabulous - lots of choice of baths, large outdoor area with beautiful views. They swapped the men's and women's onsen location each day so you got to see both of them which was great. The food was fabulous. I am celiac and still managed to find food that I could eat. We were met in the carpark and made to feel extremely welcome.

Too far away from everything, I had to take several public transportation to get there. There’s a shuttle bus from the airport but you need to book at least 3 days prior the reservation day, however when I booked it (3 days prior) I never got an answer from them and I could not call because I do not own a Japanese number.

The hotel is quite old, some area need renovation to be more presentable. (The steps that goes from indoor onsen to outdoor onsen looks kinda dirty, the carpet inside the lift is smelly)

Outdoor onsen area js very beautiful, not too busy/crowded as it’s quite big. Good variety and quality of food. Nice and helpful staff.

If I was to be pressed to find negative aspects I would say that the onsens are closed for cleaning for about 3 or 4 hours during the day and at this time there’s really not much else to do. Difficult to access the local area if you don’t have wheels. Having said that. For this location I was happy to stay in and in the surrounds of the hotel for a couple days. For a winter getaway this was very relaxing.

We had an excellent stay here. The room wasn’t huge spacious, convenient and very comfortable. The staff were professional and attentive. The onsens were amazing. There’s a huge selection of food for dinner and breakfast.
