Incredible top of the hill view of Hilo Bay and Mauna Kea. Beautiful grounds, comfortable room and helpful host who created me on arrival and carried my bags!

Shower water pressure was very weak (possibly the room I stayed only?) Chickens at the backyard make loud noise during night times... it was quite annoying. A/C is equipped, but it was making too much wind noise since the cooling capacity was not sufficient for the size of the room I guess? But it doesn't mean the room was too warm or hot. A/C did work properly, except for the loud noise.

We really enjoyed our stay here at the Hilltop, it was comfortable, homey and clean. Great views of the bay and walkable to downtown. Really wish we could have stayed longer! Our only sort of complaint was the large tub took a while to fill and barely had enough hot water for it, the shower must have been on its own system (seemingly endless hot water).

Parking can be tricky if you aren’t like Ken Block behind the wheel but is doable. One of my friends gotten a noise complaint for sitting on the balcony outside around midnight. The officer said they mentioned something about music, there was no music and the officer said “I don’t hear any thing, have a goodnight” and just left so I assume this is a common occurrence here. Other than the property is awesome and very unique.

The property is up on a nice hill over looking part of the city and ocean. The room was clean and comfortable. The projector TV was an awesome touch. There was a relatively good sized lizard we ended up naming “Edgar” that would come out of nowhere and hangout with us. The management crew was very nice and the process to check in/out was very simple. Would come back

There isn’t much soundproofing, so sometimes it was easy to hear other guests. The bed was also not as comfortable as we would have liked, probably because we’re used to memory foam we have at home.

The views of Hilo were stunning. The room was spacious and clean.

It would have been nice to have a small microwave in the room to heat up leftovers. For a night or two, it’s not really needed, but we stayed for a week.

The parking was extremely tight with very little room. Also we were asked to remove our shoes upon entering the front door. That is fine but the carpet up to our suite was badly stained and needed replacing.

Clean and adequate facilities. Liked fresh air with open windows and view of Hilo. No ice except little tray in refrigerator. Requested necessary items and received them promptly.

My room had an incredible vista down to the ocean, it was wonderful to wake up to! Very cozy room with all your basic amenities, it was perfect for a shore stay in Hilo. Beautiful garden with hammocks and cats! Haha :)

Was no breakfast or, kitchen facilites, which was the main drawback of this location. The room and bathroom was small but adequate, just no counter space was the main issue. Would have been nice to have had a kitchen area to use.

Was a lovely property, had many stairs, which I did not know about, was fine. But older folks need to know. Had a great outside lounge area we did not get to enjoy do to all the heavy rain.

There is very limited facility to cook and prepare your own food, which isn't the end of the world but means more waste in packaging should you want to eat at Hilltop. We took a lot of our rubbish with us, which we had already become used to doing on the island so it was no big deal. The location and views were excellent. It's a great spot to sit outside and enjoy a beer in the late afternoon. From Hilltop we were a few minutes walk (downhill) to central Hilo and in under an hour drive to the Mauna Kea observatory, Waipi'o, Kalapan and Volcanoes National Park. The house was very clean and there was option for a daily room service. The resident cat was a wonderful host and one who, I like to think, became a good friend.

I would change the mattress because it's to much soft, and the bed linen for a hotel standard (all white).

The owner is a really nice guy, very kind and helpfull! The location at the hill's top is awesome, but of course, you'll need a car to get arround. The room's size is fine and the bathroom with very good size! The gardens and living room are cozy and really good taste decored! The check in and out is amazing, just put your code on the doors, awesome!
