The beds are very very soft and therefore not comfortable for us. We also found the pool photo quite misleading, it looks inviting and nicely styled in the pictures, but in reality, it’s just plain loungers around a standard American pool.

The location is perfect. It’s set in an oasis in the desert, just half an hour from the most beautiful entrance to Big Bend National Park.

A few things need renovation. The A/C in the old cavalry building was way too noisy.

Our ceiling leaked. There was a storm the first night we arrived and there was a steady drip from the ceiling for hours. The staff placed a bucket in the middle of our room to catch the water. They did not offer to move us to another room. Also, the shower would not drain the first night we used it. Maintenance fixed it after we brought it to their attention.

The grounds were clean and beautiful. Sitting outside was peaceful and scenic. The staff were pleasant and welcoming.

The hotel does not have an elevator. No problem for us, but it would be for some people. The shower floor was super slippery so be careful. We had to put a towel on the floor in the shower to feel safe. There are no grab bars either.

This place is a great surprise in this isolated, desert environment. For golfers and non-golfers, it is a place that will be remembered for the beauty and ambience. The golf course is like no other and photos do not do it justice. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was in the main hotel building which is the oldest part and it did need some attention but it was comfortable.

Desk Chair in our room was breaking apart, and we couldn’t use it. There were towels hanging on the back of out bathroom door, and we weren’t sure if they were clean or used. It was dark when we walked back from dinner and it was difficult to walk on the uneven and missing paving stones to our room 116.

Room and property were nice. Comfy bed, lots of places to put your luggage.

In researching for our stay, we were so excited to eat at the saloon - love the name - were hoping to get a fun T-shirt to show off after. However, that saloon was full of loud, drunk golfers scattered all over harassing a lovely singer. The person who greeted us at the bar, where there were 3 chairs and a guy sitting in the middle one, yelled to us that if we wanted to eat just let someone at the bar know. Wow. What a welcome.?? I appreciate that you can’t choose the clientele but we were really bummed. So we ate in the restaurant. Which was OK but just not what we had set our sites on. One more note, It was confusing to find the hotel. We were looking for “The Lajitas Golf Resort” but the hotel has a different name. Perhaps in the information you send out, mention to “check in at the Badlands Hotel.”

Location, adorable room in the hotel, the property with its history was enchanting! We wished we had planned more time there - we were there to see Big Bend - to take advantage of the many opportunities for activities. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Eddie was kind enough to educate us about the history of the place and the sites to see. Thanks Eddie!
