One of the front desk staff is a Chinese, who can speak both Chinese and Japanese. He was very helpful. He offered us his mobile contact to ensure we could safely get a taxi back to the hotel from the outlet nearby. Exceed our expectations. Thank you so much.

Kannawaen is an entirely non-smoking accommodation that features a garden, terrace and bar in Beppu. 100 metres from Hells of Beppu, the property is also 500 metres away from Jigokumushikobo Kannawa. The hospitality and all the attention from the staff was awesome. The food was excellent, exceeding our expectations. The room was very clean and the amenities were fabulous. The price of the drinks and goods was very fair.

It was my father's first time staying at ryokan and he absolutely loved it. The property was beautiful, staff incredibly sweet and friendly, and the meals delicious. The property has indoor and outdoor private onsens. Truly a relaxing experience being in an outdoor onsen, especially in the morning. There is a free coffee machine for espressos in the lobby available at certain hours. We booked with the breakfast and kaiseki dinner included. Everything was delicious and the staff are so on top of bringing out the next course. Lovely experience tucked away in a beautiful mountain setting. Highly recommend staying here!!
