Dating back to 1914, this hotel is 3 minutes’ walk from Sandefjord Station. It offers free afternoon waffles with tea/coffee, a free evening buffet, plus free sauna and gym access. Our family had an experience that felt like happy sailors on shore leave in this historic hotel full of old-world charm! The location is perfect—right in the center for all your adventures, yet so peaceful it feels like a little hidden oasis. The services are fantastic: breakfast and dinner buffets so abundant we’re still not sure we managed to taste everything! The dining room is amazing, with the atmosphere of a real 1800s fishing boat—all that was missing were some nets on the walls and the cry of seagulls. The tea room by the entrance is so inviting you’ll find yourself tempted to have a snack at any hour. A big thank you to the blonde lady (the captain herself?) who welcomed us with a brilliant smile, and to all the “men of the sea” in the kitchen, always ready to feed us with great enthusiasm. At the end, we even discovered a well-equipped gym with Technogym machines and a sauna… so after eating like pirates, we could at least pretend to feel sporty (for about five minutes!).

Situated about 5 minutes’ walk from Tønsberg Station, this central waterfront hotel offers free Wi-Fi and sea views. All rooms have a flat-screen cable TV. Everything about this place was excellent. It is in a great location, easy walking to everything in town. Be sure to check out the Whaling Museum (Slottsfjellsmuseet), just a few blocks away, with its many enormous whale skeletons and other exhibits on the history of the region. The hotel room was good size, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was terrific with a large variety of offerings. The hotel has an on-site underground garage for self parking. While the parking fee was expensive ( NOK 420 per night), it was extremely convenient. (It also looked like there were some other public lots across the street and in the neighborhood that may be less pricey, especially for longer stays) Overall we had a great stay and recommend the Hotel Klubben as an excellent choice in Tønsberg.

Situated at the Åsgårdstrand beach in eastern Norway, Grand Hotel Åsgårdstrand - Unike Hoteller offers striking views of the Oslo fjord. It was extremely serene and beautiful. Everyone was incredibly helpful and nice.
