Featuring a shared lounge, the 2-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. After staying in various hotels in Japan, I got to stay in Beppu Hiromiya for a night, and woa, what a difference it made. Miho, the host, is kind and sweet beyond words. She welcomes you with the warmth of a friend and the care of a grandma. Though she doesn’t speak English fluently, she does her best to provide all the helpful information about what to do in the area. A trip to a foreign country would not be complete without meeting kind and genuine locals. Meeting Miho has made my trip to Japan complete. Other highlights of staying in Hiromiya: - Near bus station and tourist information office. When you arrive at Beppu station, take a bus from station 3 and it will take you very close to the place. - Short walk from here to the best three hells of Beppu. Though it’s popular to see all 7 hells, I don’t think it’s necessary. Better to spend more time in less locations. - The steam on this road is beautiful during the day and at night. - Kannawa Hot Spring is next door which offers a very unique herbal steam experience that detox your whole body. You can get a discount ticket from Hiromiya. - There’s a small onsen on site if you don’t want to go out - Room is spacious and traditional

A definite top 5 for me. We got the room with a private one and it was simply so amazing to have that within seconds of your room. Also it felt like the water in the private in room onsens had much more minerals than the large one but the large one is well worth a stay too as it feels so free to be the only one there and gazing upon the mountains as you bathe.

The house is great and clean, it has been through renovation. Yuki-san is an excellent host. Traditional tatami room and comfy futon. Bathroom with laundry and dryer, onsen coming straight from the sink for a soothing bath. I will come here again when I am around Kirishima
Shinmeikan is a truly amazing ryokan/ onsen. The whole building just oozes authenticity. Great tatami style rooms overlooking the river, super friendly staff who will help you with all your needs. Great onsen baths, especially the cave bad is spectacular. Dinner and breakfast are equally high quality and display a variety of Japanese cuisine. Absolute perfect place if you want to experience traditional Japanese onsen style ryokan.
Very nice ryokan, located on a small street close to Gion subway station (2 minutes walk) and Hakata Station (10 minutes walk). Nerby many shops and restaurants, Big Buddha Temple and Kishida Shrine. Canal City Mall within walking distance. Personnel very nice and helpful. Good Japanese breakfast (misoshiru, rice, fish, natto, fried egg, salad and tea) - fresh, tasty and nutricious. 6 and 8 tatami rooms spacious and comfortable, futon beds very good and comfortable.
Within walking distance to the Jigoku Meguri tour and the infamous Hyotan Onsen. There’s a lift for upper floors and it even has a kitchenette. The tatami floor is very nice. The futon is comfortable. It was a short stay but it was nice. My room even has a balcony. Retro bathroom with no bidet.
We had an unforgettable family stay at a traditional Ryokan in Japan. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who made us feel right at home. The serene atmosphere of the Ryokan, with its beautiful tatami rooms , and peaceful environment, provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our family enjoyed the delicious kaiseki meals served in Ryokan and loved relaxing in the private onsen. We highly recommend this Ryokan to families looking for a unique and authentic Japanese experience.
Very spacious room with private onsen. Suitable for families as they have double bed and tatami area for futons setup. Separate toilet and bath, and even changing area attached to the private onsen, which feels like going to a sento. Onsen facing a small private garden, which will be nice if it wasnt too cold to soak.
Absolutely loved the place! It’s a hotel, but has a ryokan influence. The Japanese room was great, with enough room to move around and everything you need - water, tea, yukata, fridge etc The onsen and traditional breakfast were great, too. The location is perfect to visit many places of interest and the City View bus stop is just a couple of min walk from it. My favourite thing was staff: they are all professional, friendly, welcoming, super kind and helpful. If I come back I will definitely stay here again, no doubt!
The place is a great value for the money. It exceeded our expectations. Rooms with foutons were very clean, warm and well designed. You will have all the checklist of a good ryokan here: several onsens (even outside one), yukatas, kaiseki. And even more: tea table with all the things you need, private toilet and wash basin, good internet. Host was very nice and welcome. Definitely would recommend this place.
Amazing ryokan, top-notch service, English speaking staff Futon beds on Tatami was quite comfortable Dinner and breakfast was very tasty In the middle of Kurokawa onsen with everything in walking distance 7 Onsens, switching daily from male to female Tattoo was no problem, not even mentioned
