Alleppey feels more of a jumping off point for back-water tours, rather than anything of note in and of itself. The main beach is only really good for going for a stroll to watch the (always cloudy) sunset - it's not setup for daytime relaxation. Stepping into the town, there are very few good places to eat, and as a Westerner the lack of being able to sit somewhere with an alcoholic drink was rather strange (there are liquor stores you can buy drink from for consumption in private). We stayed as a base for five nights - two, or maximum three would have sufficed.

The beach was nice, Boathouse that we took was that good, we took the day trip boat food was not within the expectation was very disappointed as the cook was from norther instead of local cook. Therefore we had only 2 kerala dishes vegetable and friend wish other menu was Dhal, rice , chapati and raita, mix veg. The starting point of boathouse was very disappointing where we saw kids diapers , and other plastic garbage floating around. Hope they can maintain the clearness and also ensure local food is serve on the boathouse. Otherwise the journey was beautiful we took a smaller boat to visit the local houses more closer.

A nice place to visit just for a day.
A nice place to visit just for a day. We opted for Shikara boats, which worked perfectly. Some people may prefer to spend their nights in a house boat, although, It may be quite boring for such long hours in still water.
The Alleppey beach is a must visit. A lot of people also visit Marari beach, however, I personally prefer the Alleppey beach since its much cleaner.
Must try - Seafood (although I am a Vegetarian, so cannot comment on that).
Most likely, one may visit this place only once and there are very less things to do here. So planning the trip for 1 or 1.5 days is more than enough.

We did the Charlotte Cruise Boat at Alleppy as a couple for one night. The check in was better than most hotels we visited in India! Our host introduced us to the boat’s captain and chef! We were greeted with fresh coconut water and the check in was smooth. The boat was wonderful! Just like a hotel setting but on water. The views were spectacular and food was delicious! We got to pick our own fish from a local fisherman and got to go on a smaller canal boat for an hour whilst the sunset and see the narrower parts of the backwaters. The only drawback is we were not informed of the additional cost of this which was RS1000 but it was worth it!

Alleppey is probably the nicest town along this bit of the coast, its noticeably cleaner and friendlier than other more touristy places. The beach front is slightly spoiled visually by the new raised coast highway being built but once you've got used to the structure you sort of forget it and get on with other things. The town is going through a period of change and will hopefully get better once many of the old historic buildings have been renovated and put to new uses. The town has clearly suffered from changes in industry but there is a move by the town council to breathe new life into the region and the investment will be worth it and make Alleppey great again!

Only stayed here for one night, as we were planning to take the government tourist ferry from Alleppey to Kollam. However we were told that the ferry stopped running over 2 years ago and their website has not been updated to reflect this.
We loved everything.. the location is on Lake bank. So, car parking is about 150m away at a paid and park. The brothers who run it are awesome and are always there to help us in all ways, from helping with luggage, ordering food, guiding to nearby restaurants, arranging boating trips in the lake etc. There is also ayurvedic massage at the hotel given by experts which was so refreshing. Having booked on harthal days, the brothers and family were extra helpful with guiding us to ensure we got the same quality of stay.
Overall 5 star!!
Nothing.
The property is not ready for stay. SO we could not stay. Plus the location shown on the Bookings.com website is far from the actual location. No reception for the guest. We were sent to another hotel as this hotel did not have water supply.
The whole process took almost 2-3 hours to find the actual location and then going to alternate location as asked by them and ultimately we had to search for hotel for our own, leaving whole family in extreme discomfort.
Bad experience
Changed several hotels in Alleppey and this hotel is the best.
Only 3 min from the Ocean. We had a quiet room and slept well.
Large comfortable bed with artapedic mattress. European renovation.
Excellent high speed internet We were able to work.
Beautiful recreation area with pool.
What we liked most about this hotel was the manager Clint.
Very attentive, helped us with any questions we had and always very prompt.
We were very satisfied.
We had a lovely one-night stay at the property. We arrived in Alleppey looking to go onto a houseboat for the next day. You can reserve a houseboat through Johnson’s homestay. Although they were fully booked for the next day, Johnson advised us where to go. We managed to secure two days on a houseboat. Lovely experience. When we returned, we bumped into Johnson in town; he kindly offered to store luggage until our train arrived. Nice guy.
Lovely modern hotel and room in a good location to be able to access everything in Alleppey. Good WiFi, fan, AC and hot water with toiletries, kettle and tea/coffee provided in the room. Room was very big with a balcony and two comfortable chairs. Very comfortable and big bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our bags at reception after check out and pick up later in the day. Would highly recommend.
Pathetic services and pathetic management. They were not helpful at all we had a situation where we needed help but they were not professional at all. Hotel is overpriced in everything they are just making people fool. Nothing as a five star hotel regretting even by staying at the hotel. Booking is a pathetic website no help i got at all. Neither a reply from the site will never use this app again.
This traditional houseboat offered a fun and relaxing adventure. I loved exploring the backwaters of Alleppey and witnessing a different way of life all from the comfort of a large boat with all the amenities. The staff was really sweet, the food delicious and the sights are so beautiful. I highly recommend - Jose made the arrangements super easy too!
Awesome 👌🤝
Neat and comfy rooms. Air conditioning and everything worked perfectly.
Calm atmosphere when you're at the property, even though it is in the heart of Alleppey town.
Front room associate Abhilash was very Kind and helpful. I'd highly recommend this property for Families and Couples so you can enjoy a great stay when you're in Alleppey.
Homr feeling at Kshiki Homestay owners are very kind and their services are value for money. Loved their food cooked and served by RABIN this guy is well mannered and looks very professional we appreciate his services. This property has well maintained swimming pool with beautiful garden. Overall I recommend Kshiki Homestay for holiday in Alleppey.
The room is basic but clean and has a fan. The bathroom does not have a sink but there are a couple right outside. The room is great value for money and the WiFi worked amazingly for zoom calls, as I work from home. The hosts were so lovely and helped us book trips in Alleppey. Nice location near a great sea view restaurant.
Nice house, very clean, quiet and confortable rooms with tea facilities. Staff were incredible , and both Vimal and Sunita were always kind and helpful and they arrange boating as well. Breakfast OK.
The place was in a quiet street very close to the boating canal and 10 min walk to main Alleppey's street and attractions.
Fantastic...It exceeds our expectation..Host was very caring, helpful and in our entire journey of 17 days of karnataka and Kerala May flower heritage villa was the best place to stay in Alleppey...Room was very clean and the food was wonderful..The property is amazing..Sister Susan is the wonderful person..
Recently I came to visit this place. Ambience is so calm and peaceful. Excellent service and very friendly staffs. Rooms are very clean. This place is just 100m away from alleppey beach and railway station is near by. There homley food taste is excellent . Definitely i will back to this property
Such a welcoming and friendly family, they couldn't be more helpful. The location was perfect for us because I wanted to be out of town and away from Alleppey, but close enough to travel in when we wanted to.
The host Jay is such a legend!
This place alone is worth staying in Alleppey for longer. If you don't manage to get a space here then don't bother with Alleppey for more than 2 nights
The place is cleaner than a hotel. The host is interesting to talk to, and is extremely knowledgeable about tourism in Kerala. He helped me tailor a suit and find a wedding gift.
Lalji was an amazing host and helped us set up everything we needed to make our stay in Alleppey comfortable and memorable.
The rooms are modern, comfortable and super clean.
It is a beach front hotel and in a good location,we can see the beach from the rooms, breakfast is simple and excellent, Owner gives good information about sightseeing etc
Everything is great here,if you are staying in Alleppey then think no more...this is the place to stay.
Loved 😍 it and do try aunty's home cooked food.
