The main street has a wide range of local shops as well as some high street brands. It is worth a stroll up the hill to window shop or browse. My wife spent some time in several small but interesting clothing shops. Towards the top of the hill we found a wonderful little coffee shop/cafe with half the space used for unusual bric-a-brac and gifts. The range of food was excellent for such a boutique place. It is located down a narrow side street that has several ''Tree of Life'' motifs along the wall but a chalk board on the pavement identifies it's location. It is called The Nut House and I recommend it to anyone in need of some refreshment. The street down to the harbour wall has some quaint houses, cafes, ice cream and gift shops and the area around the harbour wall is very tranquil and has a fair amount of bench seating looking out over the river.
Just outside the main shopping area is a Waitrose superstore for anyone wanting a bigger shop.
The walk from Elmers Court along the main road, past the ferry port, over the river, to the harbour is about 1.5 miles. On the way you pass The Ferryman pub which has an extenisve menu and a restaurant with a lovely atmosphere.

There is a market on Saturday which was good to walk around and see what it has to offer. The high street is closed off for this too. We had dinner in the King's Head pub, a friendly local pub and the food was lovely and drinks were reasonably priced too.
The marina was lovely to sit and have a coffee whilst watching the boats and ferries.
There is a Tesco Express in the high street for anything you might have forgotten.

It is not a good place to eat out if you are diabetic.
It is not a good place to eat out if you are diabetic. There is a very good cafe/restaurant in a courtyard halfway up the Highstreet on the right hand side going up. There was a pet food shop across the courtyard. They had more to offer than cakes, pasties and chips! They also make amazing smoothies. There is an alternative walk down to the harbour avoiding a steep cobbled road, if you are unsure on your feet. I could find no tourist information. The station has a good selection of leaflets on train museums etc in Fife Scotland and around the country. Apparently for some unknown reason, the New Forest hop on and off buses do not begin until July. Surely, they would be used outside of school holidays. Last year I spent a day on them and they would be great for visitors who are on foot who usually avoid school holidays.

Lymington was lovely.
Lymington was lovely. We went to the Saturday market where we bought local products for reasonable prices. The Angel pub was a find, as was The 6 Bells for breakfast.
Car parking was available, but quite pricey.
Good location for visiting IOW, the New Forest and Exbury Gardens.

Lymington is charming, historic and a lovely Georgian Town.
Lymington is charming, historic and a lovely Georgian Town. Not having the big chains means there are lots of independent varied outlets. The pub food is always amazing wherever you go and The Haven restaurant is awesome !
Lovely clean, dog friendly place. We were made very welcome, and breakfast was great. They served breakfast very promptly and were very accommodating with different choices. There is plenty of parking nearby if you can't get into the car park at the front. It was really well situated to explore Lymington, and there is no need to use the car to walk to local pubs and restaurants.

Lovely old building. The rooms are quirky , uneven floors sash windows all added to the charm. The staff were all lovely very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was top class and we ate evening meal both nights in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Parking at back of hotel in free car park.
The hotel is a lovely building with lovely grounds and decent facilities. Staff were attentive and the location is excellent - its a very short drive into Lymington and the grounds look out over the water. In particular we liked the children's playground.

The restaurant serves fantastic food and the in house brewery is brilliant.
Very cosy, great location with Lymington High Street on the doorstep. On holiday with my elderly Mother, I enjoyed the close proximity of the pubs & restaurants which were in walking distance, so little need for the car or taxis. Good car parking scheme.
We had been to a funeral and parked the car to get a taxi to Lymington and the staff were so kind and helpful and offered to drive us if we couldn't get a taxi. All the staff were very efficient and friendly. Comfortable and quiet.
Spacious, comfortable and spotless room. Excellent breakfast and good choice of meals available in the pub. Well located for Lymington, walks in the New Forest and trips to the Isle of Wight. We would definitely stay here again.
Third visit to the Bosun's Chair and it was great! Staff are so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is a short walk from the High Street and is a great place to stay when visiting the New Forest. Car parking is a bonus too.
