A wonderful caretaker who told us the few guidelines of the property and assisted us throughout the stay. It's a wonderful location, so quiet and beautiful in the golden circle area.
Breakfast was nice and the kitchen gave flexibility to do your own thing.
Very powerful central heating in the rooms.

Reykholt is a nice little village on the golden circle.
Reykholt is a nice little village on the golden circle. It has a little grocery shop in the petrol station with hot dogs and ice cream. There are also the Mika and Friðheimar restaurants, both worth a visit. The outdoor swimming pool, playgrounds and sport facilities are fantastic for the kids. This is one of our favourite areas to book for weekends away from Reykjavík. We enjoy the local hikes, waterfalls (and also Restaurant Mika!). With Secret Lagoon nearby as well as the Golden Circle being within a short drive, there is plenty to do. The Restaurant Mika was a welcoming place, since we were traveling the Golden circle late and were worried we wouldn't have anything to eat before arriving at the amazing Blue Hotel Fagrilundur. We thought the restaurant would close at 9pm on the Monday night, but we saw they kept letting travellers in well past 9pm. And the food was wonderful! And they accommodated my partner's gluten and sugar intolerance so nicely, by even cooking the potatoes on a separate pan from the others. We would come back to Reykholt and Restaurant Mika and the Blue Hotel again and stay longer!

The hot tub is completely private and has a stunning view for sunset and sunrise. We saw the Northern Lights even though the sky had clouds - great location for that as well. The cabin itself was spotless, and much larger than I expected. There were two bedrooms, a nice kitchen, and a great bathroom leading right out to the hot tub! awesome. The hot tub was amazing with an awesome view of the volcano Hekla in the distance. The house was so spacious compared to our other rentals. It was peaceful and had everything we needed included.
