The hotel is small, but very cozy and the staff is extremely helpful and everyone spoke very good English, so we could chat and they suggested quite a few nice places. Also, the staff was very helpful with multiple requests we had / help we needed. They provided us with the towels to go an elephant sanctuary, they arranged an early breakfast for us before going there. There were extremely helpful when it rained poorly and roads were blocked.

FAQs about hotels in Chiang Mai

The Rose of the North

Located among Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystic capital of the North. Offering more than 300 temples, it is considered one of the most important cultural centres in the country.

Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still keeps a relaxed and laidback feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.

This reputation is partly due to its proximity to mountains and lush green areas, like Doi Suthep Mountain and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 60 km away and comprises Thailand’s highest mountain.

Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city centre are a popular choice, offering a more picturesque experience, with its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.

The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Rd hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.

Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss 'The Rose of the North' deals on Booking.com!

Chiang Mai is rightly gaining popularity as a more relaxed and cultured experience compared to Bangkok and the various tourist hotspots. The town offers something for everybody - beautiful lush National Parks around for hiking and trail running - often with unbelievable scenic temples nestled right into the landscape.

We found Chiang Mai is very clean and clam, it's not loud even in the night market, it's a good place to relax from a busy city life. There are lots of cafe to choose in different area of the city, providing good quality coffee and we bought some beans back too. The living cost here is so low, compare to Bangkok and Phuket, Chiang Mai is much more cheaper but the standard has not much difference. We have good shopping here, souvenirs are better price here, and the good as well, most of the local food are below 100Thb, always good price for a meal. one of the best thing in Chiang Mai is the distance to visit local /traditional villages, famous temples or forest is not far, it's like 1-1.5hrs drive then you will be far from the town, it's great to go 1 day trip to see the green or something different.

We stayed 3 nights in Chaing Mai with our boys age 15 & 17.

We stayed 3 nights in Chaing Mai with our boys age 15 & 17. Loved the area, the city, the people. So much to do! Tiger Kingdom is well worth a visit, joint with an ethical elephant visit and the waterfall at Buathong is definitely worth a climb. Please visit Fern Forest cafe for amazing food. And the night market at the old city gates is a must for every visit to indulge in street food of any variety.

    A must see in Thailand.

A must see in Thailand. All the numerous temples are gorgeous and are a feast for the eyes. The city is very well-designed and you'll have no trouble getting everywhere on foot. The taxis are very cheap. The city smells good, looks good and is full of very polite people. I'd recomment visiting Kat's cafe as one of the best eateries in the city.

Chiang Mai is the jewel in Thailand's crown.

Chiang Mai is the jewel in Thailand's crown. A really amazing town with lovely, kind, and friendly people. Very safe and well priced. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, and eateries. Chiang Mai seems to be popular with European families which probably reflects its safety and ease of travel. I will definitely visit again (just not in the rainy season), and would highly recommend anyone to visit. My tip would be to stay in the central area not outlying areas as this will make life easier and more comfortable.

I like Chiang Mai and I will go back.

I like Chiang Mai and I will go back. It depends on what you want to do and see. I have been there before and have done quite a few tours and cooking classes. Some travellers like to stay in the Old Town and other districts. I downloaded the BOLT app, it’s like our Uber, and used that. Pay in cash. I do a lot of travelling and used cash in Chiang Mai for food and small purchases and my WISE card to pay in Thai Baht for expenses like accommodation etc to save on fees.

The 6 dorm room is very spacious and clean. The ensuite bathroom was very comfortable and clean. the staff is the best part of the hostel, particularly Ney that gave me many advices about available tours and close by tourist attractions. The position is perfect, 100m away from the old city. In few minutes you can reach walking most of the old city area, so it's a perfect location if you want to explore the old town by feet or if you are willing to rent a scooter for the day but move by feet or take taxis during the night.

The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Even though we have checked out they invited us back to make Krathong for the festival at the hotel. The location was great - very central in the old city. The night market was 2 minutes away and there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Laundry service was great. Breakfast was included. Beds very comfortable and tea and coffee, water available. But the best thing was the staff - so helpful and friendly.

Very friendly and obliging staff. Located inside the Old City walls so close to nighttime bars and entertainment. Close to some great restaurants. Especially the Dash Restaurant located directly opposite the hotel. Owned and operated by a 'British-Thai'. The absolute best Thai Food experience of our 3 months holiday in Thailand.
